I thought this might be an interesting idea for a thread. Do you believe men should be able to get paternity leave from work?
I personally think they should, depending on the circumstances. It shouldn't just be up to the wife to care/provide for the baby. If the baby requires additional attention due to medical/health factors, then the husband absolutely should be able to take paternity leave from work.

In Canada you get 35 weeks of shared parental leave, so either the mother or the father can take it at any time (e.g. the father for 17.5 weeks and the mother for 17.5 weeks).
Currently in Canada, there's a debate going on in Parliament to make paternity (father's) leave "use it or lose it"/mandatory. This is because it is usually the mothers who take up leave, which contributes to gender inequality. I'm not sure how it's going to be structured.

Fathers going on mandatory paternity leave wouldn't be beneficial for many employers and the economy, but morally and ethically, it's the best possible outcome.
