I find it interesting the complete lack of Sonic votes. Trust me, if there were more '80s babies on this forum, that would not be the case! We do already have quite a few '80s born members on Popedia, so i'm not sure if it would change the results too much. Mario is obviously just very popular among all of us here! The '80s babies are a minority here. The fact that I'm on the older end of this community despite being born at the height of the 16-bit war is testament to how before our time Sonic's significance really was. There are plenty of Sonic Fans who got hooked with Sonic Adventure, but that's still nothing compared to the character's influence in the early nineties.

True, I think 1990 borns are probably the youngest to have really witness gamming when it was still the snes vs gensis since they would've been strating elementary school in the mid 900s when the ps1 and Saturn was new and primative while most kids still played on the 16 bit systems.

I know there's a poll option for people who prefer Sonic, but I wonder if the results would be any different if the question was actually based on people's preference between the two characters? The question doesn't lend itself as being an accurate representation of the level of interest in the two characters, as it's only asking people if they are a fan of Mario.

Bruh, Mario is my favorite mascot of all time. A lot of people don't comprehend the creativity of the franchise. Super Mario Bros is a fascinating IP, Super Mario Bros. 2/NES and Super Mario 64.
