If only that was my actual home Wi-Fi speed.

Wow, I think the new 5G speeds are like that or even better!

They created our telecommunications mess and now the rest of us have to suffer for it. Wow, I think the new 5G speeds are like that or even better! 5G is supposed to be slightly better I think? Yeah, I really jealous, lol. He got proper FTTP in the city whereas I’m out in the suburbs with shitty FTTN.

Even if every area in Australia had a proper FTTP connection, you'd still get some areas which would have slower download/loading speeds due to a backlog of users trying to access the local NBN node. There's some outlying and rural areas which even have better internet speeds than the cities. For instance, my Uncle lives about 15-20 minutes outside of Devonport and even though his area has no more than 3,000 people, his NBN connection is better than what I have here in the southern suburbs of Wollongong.

Yes, of course. Still doesn’t make it right though. If only what could have been if Labor’s superior NBN was seen through rather than the Coalition's clusterfuck of multi-technology use (which was all supposed to be much cheaper but wasn’t after all!). But we (not you and me personally) voted this government in so we get what we deserve I guess. I'm supposed to be getting HFC, is that any good? Interesting. Depends on certain things naturally but it’s not as good as proper FTTP (of course), but from what I have read it can be mostly better than FFTN (unless you’re extremely lucky in that lotto). Both have tradeoffs though as HFC will give more consistent results for a distribution area, with no "node lotto", but has shared bandwidth between all the endpoints in a HFC run. www.whistleout.com.au/Broadband/Guides/nbn-hfc-everything-you-need-to-know

I've been researching over the past few weeks, but its all very iffy with the speeds that you're supposed to get. So I have no idea what I'm going to expect early next year

Depending on location and such all you can do is hope you're one of the lucky ones, unfortunately.Who knows, the suburb(?) you live in could be fortunate. I don't know anyone with the HFC setup actually but I've read there's been a number of delays plaguing the rollout the last couple of years. Either way, it will surely be better than what you currently have lol.

On testmy.net, I've noticed that there are mid-sized towns which are way faster than Sydney and Melbourne on average.
