On testmy.net, I've noticed that there are mid-sized towns which are way faster than Sydney and Melbourne on average. Quite embarrassing really. Global speeds from September shows Australia is ranked 61st(-3) for fixed and 5th(-3) for mobile. In comparison, New Zealand are sitting 23rd(-3) and 11(+2) on the same rankings. longaotian you are so lucky!

Makes me nostalgic for my high school 512kbps... NOT. SpeedTest isn't working for me, but on another site (testmy.net) my download speeds has improved to 191.8 Mbps. The upload speed was 10.1 Mbps although I doubt it actually dropped.

Makes me nostalgic for my high school 512kbps... NOT. Well, now it's official. The 2010s had stone-age Internet!

^ That makes me very jelly. Screaming @ "Faster than 90% of AU" Yeah, it's ridiculous that our internet speeds are so poor given how we are a highly developed country. Time for me to move to Canada me thinks.

Wireless speeds around this, while ethernet is around 110mbps max. Will be expecting this to drop once I get NBN next year So, when are you supposed to be getting hooked up to HFC? I presume you haven’t as yet?

Still nothing brilliant, but mine has improved a bit since upgrading to a new modem a few days ago after the last one spit the dummy.

This is what it looks like (wireless): I have to say I'm quite surprised with the speed I'm getting even though the plan remains the same. I have experienced two outages so far, only lasting for a few minutes.

Your down is down unsurprisingly but the up speed has seen a massive increase since the switch then. That's definitely a positive for your future video uploads.

Yeah I'm with Telstra, I guess for me download is more important than upload speed most of the time (apart from of course future uploads haha, but that's a long story to why I haven't uploaded some of the new tapes from Sydney I got... )

I only use upload for VHS recordings and occasional backups. For what I assume is a standard plan you are on that’s pretty decent though. Still nothing on our New Zealand or Canadian friends unfortunately!

I get that it's a much smaller country and it's more densely populated, but we're the "big brother", we should have better internet speeds than the Kiwis.
