I'm sure EyewitnessTV, @slowpoke1993, mwalker96, and other Pokémon fans on the forum will like the idea of this thread. I thought it would be a good idea if we created a thread for discussing anything relating to Pokémon, whether it be video games, card games, merchandise or anything in between!

Nice idea. Did anyone else collect these Pokémon Stadium 3D action cards (which you could find in Smith's potato chips packets here in Australia in the late 90s to early 2000s)?

I don't think we had these We only got up to Pokémon Stadium 2 here (which came out in 2001), I didn't know a Pokémon Stadium 3 made it outside Japan.

I don't remember seeing them in chip packets, to be honest. Although, I was probably still a bit too young at the time. They were fairly popular (amongst my group of school mates anyways) from around 1999-2001. They were only available from Smith's photo chips packets. I think I ate around half a dozen packets of these every week just to collect them! I didn’t do a bad job as I got most of them in the end!

These were really popular from around 1999-2001. Maybe the were only available in selected countries? They were a really neat thing to collect. I still have mine actually, which I’ll try and find and take a picture of and post it here. Pokémon Stadium 1 and 2 were the only released games AFAIK? They never made a 3rd (there was Pokémon Colosseum which was released for the GameCube in 2004). Anyways, the cards were really released around the first Pokémon Stadium that released in 1998.

Oh, you talked about a "Pokémon Stadium 3D", so I thought there was some game I hadn't played before. Pokémon Stadium 1 was released only in Japan in 1998, it included only the first 50 Pokémon. The Pokémon Stadium that released in the West was actually the second iteration of the game and Pokémon Stadium 2 was the third. They came out 2000 and 2001 respectively here.

They were a marketing tool for the games instead. Oh, I wasn’t aware of that, actually. Makes sense. I always thought the first one we received over here was the first release, not second. Meaning the second for us (which was for Gold & Silver) was the third instead. Looking at a video for the Japanese-only release of the first one, looks like they were basically the same thing to the second though, just with the extra 100 characters. Silly question, but you owned these I take it? What about Colosseum?

My parents and teachers were concerned that I was playing too much (I was). Colosseum I played and beat, but I wasn't the biggest fan of it. Now don't even get me started on XD Gale of Darkness or Pokémon Battle Revolution (the spiritual sequel to Pokémon Stadium).

Haha, I was probably more hooked on the main series of games rather than the Stadium games (playing both lines, they consumed way too much time of my youth though!). Yeah, my thoughts were much the same in regards to Colosseum. It was alright and I finished it, but not overly memorable. Probably the wrong thread (considering there’s a place to show your collectables in this thread), but do you have any Pokémon official merch (cards, toys, figures)?
