I'd like to propose the creation of a Travel & Tourism related sub board or sub forum on this website. This site is a great alternative to both inthe00s and Personality Cafe, I think it can also be a good alternative to City Data as well. Topics about travel & tourism can make for very interesting topic discussions on this site, and I know there are a lot of travel and tourism geeks on this site. Are you for or against the idea, SharksFan99 ?

I definitely like the idea of a Travel & Tourism board/sub-board, because I think there would be a lot of interest in it and it's something I would personally enjoy having discussions about. I'll consult the rest of the staff and see what they think of the proposal.

Doesn’t really have a lot to do with pop culture. No support.

I haven't voted in the poll as I remain unsure, but I'm leaning towards no. We already have too many sub-boards as it is in my opinion. However, I don't get what you mean by Popedia being an alternative to City-Data. What do you have in mind? That is a very large website and Popedia doesn't seem to be related at all.

Doesn’t really have a lot to do with pop culture. No support. Not all subboards have to be pop culture related on this site. Not all sub boards on PerC are sociology related. It's best to have a variety of good topics worth talking about on a forum, discussions about pop culture can get boring after awhile.

I think we should wait to add this, to be honest, especially because Popedia doesn't even have 100 members yet and not all of them are active.

I do not think we should add it because we do not have enough members yet.

I do not think we should add it because we do not have enough members yet. Pretty much this. Popedia isn't big enough yet for it to have an active Travel & Tourism Sub-board/forum. Also, I feel like if people could just give suggestions like this and have it added depending on how many votes there are for yes, no matter the idea, it will be added, which could lead to too many subboards on here. (I know I said to make a poll but I only thought about this just now)

(I know I said to make a poll but I only thought about this just now) I respect your sentiment, but see, the problem is that we need more activity on this site, and one way to make this site more active and to help it succeed in the long run is by giving a wider assortment of topics to discuss. If it just sticks to discussing pop culture over and over again, then eventually people will get bored, and the site will eventually become inactive and die off. I'm speaking from experience, back in 2010 I was once part of an online community called the "Bregull Brigade", in fact I have old videos from my old account related to it; This community also had its own website as well, and it was very active for a while, but eventually, the community fell apart really quick, because the fad got old and boring, and the site died out too, because there was nothing else to discuss on that site. In order for a site to succeed, it needs a long term strategy, and a wide assortment of sub boards that enhance the community of that site. Now, I can see your sentiment about too many sub boards being added, however, it would be up to the mods to determine whether that thread would enhance or diminish this site.

But my question is how will adding more subboards help Popedia become more popular and become more noticeable for more people to join? I mean, we already have a lot of subboards, yet Popedia is still pretty low on users, but then again this site is still less than a year old, so it's hard to say why.

I mean, we already have a lot of subboards, yet Popedia is still pretty low on users, but then again this site is still less than a year old, so it's hard to say why. Because creating more topics to discuss (ones that enhance the site) will keep it active in the long run for the users already using the site. Once they get bored discussing pop culture, they could go on to another sub board and discuss something travel and tourism related, without having to go to another site. That's the thing. Websites need a long term strategy in order to succeed, you can't think short term, otherwise, it's going to eventually fail. If you keep a wide assortment of interesting topics to discuss, then users will stay interested in participating in the forum, and are way less likely to leave to another forum. With that, you get a far more active user base on the forum, and sites with a more active user base are far more likely to grow their user base, as other people thinking about joining the site will be far more convinced to do so if they're convinced they'll have a great long term experience on the site.
