This song is currently at the top of the Australian iTunes Charts. Lee Coulter is an underground artist; he has never achieved any success on the mainstream charts and "We You Me" currently has less than 10,000 views on YouTube. Given it's position on the iTunes Charts, it will likely debut on the ARIA Chart next week. I hope it does, because I personally think it's quite good.
When is Australia going to stop producing folk/indie tracks? Of course, that's not to say that there's anything wrong with folk/indie music and it sure beats the alternative (more soulless EDM and Trap tracks), but it just seems like folk/indie-pop is the only genre of music we are producing in the mainstream at the moment. I just wish there was a bit more variety.

When I was driving home from work this afternoon, I heard on the radio that ticket prices for Katy Perry's current tour in Australia have reportedly been reduced, because the event organisers are struggling to sell tickets. I thought that was quite interesting, as it pretty much reaffirms that her career is on the wane.

Apart from "Chained to the Rythmn", she hasn't had any big hits in over 4 years.

Ive just had a look at the UK Music charts out of interest and what surprised me was that we're now heading into the 2018/2019 season, yet there are still a ton of 2017's biggest songs on the chart. "New Rules", "Havana", "Feel it Still", "Despacito", and even "Shape of You" which has been there for #83 weeks . I guess 2018 is just not good enough, so they have to keep on listening to last years songs . www.officialcharts.com/charts/singles-chart/

Dean Lewis' "Be Alright" has topped the ARIA Chart this week. While I guess it's good that "In My Feelings" has been removed from it's position, "Be Alright" isn't exactly a great #1 single either. It has also risen to #12 on the NZ Chart. I think it's incredible (but not in a good way) that the singles off "Divide" are still performing so well on the Top-40 charts, even though it has been almost 18 months since the album was released! That's one major disadvantage of streaming purely determining chart placements. Speaking of songs from 2017 that are still on the charts, "Young, Dumb & Broke" has only just dropped out of the ARIA Top-100 for the very first time and this week it was also certified 6X Platinum. I can't believe it was still within the Top-100 until just this week. Australians must love that song, for some reason.

I heard this song on Triple M (a Sydney rock station) just half an hour ago and I really like it, so much so that it has become my favourite song of 2018. It's a Britpop/alt-rock track. To be honest, I know very little about DMA's, but from what I have researched, they are a Sydney three-piece rock band. "Do I Need You Know?" was only released back in April. They actually have quite a large following in the underground and their most recent album peaked at #7 on the ARIA Album Chart and #13 on the UK Album Chart. This is the type of music we should be seeing on the Top-40 charts, not more generic EDM crap. If you haven't listened to it before, I would really recommend it. Ive just been looking at the spotify charts, and in case anyone was wondering, heres the 10 most streamed songs in the world right now: Jeez, that Top-10 is quite depressing.

I am so sick of this song. Honestly, it's one of the worst songs of 2018 and what makes matters worse is that the Top-40 stations in my local area play it several times a day. I hate the vocals in this.

I hate the vocals in this. Yep, its pretty atrocious. The other day we were driving back from dinner and this came on the radio and as soon as I heard I though god this is just painful to listen to - it really is! Anyways luckily my local radio stations don't really play it as I've only heard it the one time. I guess this is why 2018 has been annoying, there is plenty of good stuff but the bad stuff is just really, really bad like this one here:

Greta Van Fleet have just released a new song, titled "Watching Over". It's a song off their upcoming debut album, which is scheduled to be released on the 19th October. It's pretty good, IMO. I think it will be really interesting to see how the album (as well as the singles) performs on the charts. They have already experienced a fair amount of success on the iTunes Charts and they have quite a lot of momentum behind them. Greta Van Fleet even performed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon just a couple of months ago. If rock is to make a full-fledged return to the mainstream, I think Greta Van Fleet will largely be responsible for it. Fingers crossed that it happens! Yep, its pretty atrocious. The other day we were driving back from dinner and this came on the radio and as soon as I heard I though god this is just painful to listen to - it really is! Anyways luckily my local radio stations don't really play it as I've only heard it the one time. I guess this is why 2018 has been annoying, there is plenty of good stuff but the bad stuff is just really, really bad like this one here: I'm surprised that the radio station you listened to played "Fire", because I don't think it has even debut on the NZ Top-40 Chart! Either way, I completely agree that it is painful to listen to; whenever I hear it on the radio, I immediately turn the volume down. Yep, "Rise" is definitely one of the worst songs of 2018. It wouldn't be so bad if the lyrics were actually meaningful or conveyed some sort of message, but they have no substance at all.

I hate the vocals in this. It isn't the worst thing I've ever heard, but it's still downright clichéd. Good god am I sick of that damn banshee hijacking literally every other popular production these days. It was gimmicky from the start, and its current ubiquity is testament to how woefully unimaginative pop productions have gotten in recent times. Can't you throw in some other trick to fill the upper range of your mix? Yep, its pretty atrocious. The other day we were driving back from dinner and this came on the radio and as soon as I heard I though god this is just painful to listen to - it really is! It's such a defensively juvenile track that shoves its pretentiousness right in your face, even as it relies on the same controlled stutter gimmick from Liam Payne's "Bedroom Floor". It's the type of "protest" song that only sounds like it should resonate with preteen kids seeing their childhood innocence threatened for the very first time, but Jonas Blue is almost 30, while Jack & Jack are in their early 20s.

"Rise" is a pretty fabulous example of the current culture that thinks it's profound and revolutionary but barely passed seventh grade social studies.
