She has plenty of room to stay relevant in America, since she’s performing at the Super Bowl with Maroon 5. I don’t think she’ll be leaving American airwaves and streaming playlists anytime soon, even if her international following is comparatively small. Yep. If i'm not mistaken, she has even been suggested as a possible candidate for a role on "The Nanny" reboot.

Music is so dull and boring currently, 1998 and 2008 both saw big shifts in music, wheres 2018's? I blame it on the fact that music (and pop culture in general) is simply too fragmented now. I mean, look at how XXXTentacion rose to stardom; he gained a following by exclusively releasing his work on SoundCloud. None of his singles received radio airplay or were mentioned in the media. If you weren't closely following internet culture, you likely never would have heard of him. Honestly, I have my doubts that we will ever see a big shift in Top-40 music again.

I haven't listened to any of those songs before (excluding "Girls Like You"), but i'll take your word for it. I agree, 2018 hasn't been a great year for music overall, although there have been a few good songs that have been released this year IMO:
I'm not a fan of the Imagine Dragons, although I don't mind this song. The chorus reminds me of the Foo Fighters.

SharksFan99 Just carrying on our discord discussion yesterday about spotify, here is one good example of a previously unknown artist who was featured by spotify in their release playlists and now her song has reached the Top 5 all over Europe and NZ and the Top 10 in Australia....so im pretty sure the rise of streaming services doesnt entirely stop new artists from entering the mainstream.

I wasn't actually aware that Ava Max was discovered through streaming, so that's interesting to read about. Actually, just thinking about it, wasn't Bazzi discovered through streaming as well? I guess I've underestimated how successful new emerging artists can be on the Top-40 charts.

I've been hearing this quite a few times this holiday. It's fair to say this might to go down as THE christmas song of the 2010s with its popularity increasing over time.

You know, it honestly wouldn't surprise me if that song reaches the same level of popularity as "All I Want For Christmas Is You" in the next decade or so. It may become a song that gets played every Christmas. Ariana Grande will be remembered as one of the biggest pop stars of this decade, so you never know.

Take a listen to this song. It is currently at #8 on the US iTunes Chart and it is also on the Australian and New Zealand iTunes Charts as well. Yet again, it's another new pop-rock song. I had a conversation with longaotian in regards to this about a week ago; I tend to think that Top-40 music is heading more in a acoustic/rock direction. Surely there's enough evidence now to at least prove that Top-40 music is gradually undergoing a transition at the moment.
