Another depressing reminder that 2010 will be a decade old by the end of this year. Yeah, it's hard to believe isn't it. To be honest though, I can't say that I really have a lot of nostalgia for 2010 itself or the Early 2010s in general. I mean, there are some songs (e.g "Animals") which bring back memories for me, but i'm not nostalgia for them in the same way that I am for the Mid-Late 2000s. Maybe because you were a middle schooler in the early 2010s while I was still in elementary school.

I'm having mad early 2010s memories right now. I was still so innocent and the least conscious. Wonder if music artists ever reflex back on their early work as we do.

Honestly, a lot of the superficial aspects of the early '10s, such as some of the music (Neon Trees, Plain White T's, Eminem's "Recovery", BOB + Haley's "Airplanes"), as well as some moments in my personal life I am nostalgic over, but at the same time, I can't forget the shit I went through during that time period with all the bullying and what not. I honestly feel in the longrun, I'll be more nostalgic for the mid '10s rather than the early '10s, because my life was a lot better then, and I had a lot of friends. Sure, the mainstream music scene in the mid '10s is inferior (although overall I don't like the early '10s music scene either, especially when compared to the '60s-'00s), but there were a lot of great underground albums to come out in that time period, plus the band Saint Asonia debuted then.
If I were to chose any '10s year to go back to, 2013 I would chose in a heartbeat, that or late 2012 to re-experience the 2012-2013 school year.

If this interests someone: Now that we're in March 2020, January 2010 is officially closer to December 1999 than it is to present day, making it the first time the 2010s are actually closer to the 90s in time than to now.

I hated the music (like electropop and such) and many of the movies of the early part of the decade (*cough*Twilight/Hunger Games*cough*), BUT it was the beginning of a gaming revolution in those days. Plus I didn't have to worry about the world literally collapsing under my feet.

What is with everyone not liking this time? I understand it wasn’t the greatest era but it was certainly more happy and peaceful than today’s world.

I understand it wasn’t the greatest era but it was certainly more happy and peaceful than today’s world. ill give u a few, different strokes for different folks tho - While music was happy and upbeat it was masking the reality of a crashed economy - Many people still couldn't get jobs - Major television institutions like Cartoon Network's Toonami was gone (until 2012) and Nick had a very bad rebrand - Myspace had died out and Facebook never really replaced the feeling of excitement - Too much electropop, can be either good or bad depending if you liked the genre - MTV rebranded itself with a new logo and destroyed even more of a music less ness network it had become - The Boston marathon bombing, (at the time it was the biggest Terrorist attack since 9/11) - The rise of Hipster, even tho it had been making waves in a BIG way in late 2008-2009 early 2010s is when it became a thing. - The death of Rock music on the radio

But teen movies like those were so ubiquitous in pop culture that they were unfortunately too difficult to ignore.

I thought the Hunger Games movies were mid-2010s? Anyway I haven't watched (all of) the movies but the books are solid. I even re-read the first book in French (I would have reread Books 2 and 3 in French too but they were $25 each or some other insane price).

I re-watched "Diary of a Wimpy Kid : Dog Days" for the first time in years tonight. I love those movies, the humour in them is very similar to that of "Malcolm in the Middle" and I was about the same age as the main characters when the films were released, so they've always been very relatable. I actually got the books as a Christmas present when I was 12, however I have never got around to reading them.
