All of this screams late 2000s. Yupp, Summer 2008 was a VERY vivid summer, Heat blazing & pop culture bubbling.

I’m preeeeetty sure that redhead is someone I went to high school with. This would be about the right time for it too - August was just after I graduated.

2008 is definitely a different world from the present day.

I remember the cool guys wore fedoras and loosen ties in this time. They also had 80s inspired sunglasses.
The girls wore vests over shirts along with thick jeans.

I figured out what I don’t like about this era (and no it’s just that it was during my awkward stage): Recession era 00’s is just odd in its mixture of 00’s glitz and the start of hipster-dom. Like if somebody tried to look cool and hardcore out of a theater costume trunk.

It was a little bit of both. The transition was clearly happening, helped along by the Great Recession and the arrival of "Hope and Change," but of course we weren't all going to wake up the next day and the emos were going to be replaced by hipsters. That shit takes time, which is why you see prominent emo albums all the way up to summer 2013 but also had the first big hipster albums as early on as 2009. Disclaimer: This is not me doing decadeology so much as bemoaning why decadeology, especially about this year, is stupid.

This pretty much 2008 was clearly a transition year even before the big earthquake of Nov
