I don't closely follow the charts like I once did, but I've been hearing this song a lot over the past few weeks and I think it's actually pretty decent. It's refreshing to hear a song like this on the charts. Yes! I heard this on the radio a few weeks ago and really liked it. Sadly I wasn't in a position to Shazam, so I had to trawl through playlists to find the name of it.

This new song by Doja Cat has no traces of the 2010s left in it. it doesn't have a trap beat AT ALL, which is a new for Doja and recent pop music in general It also signifies a return of trip hop, which hasn't had this type of promotion since the y2k era But it's poppy enough that I can see it doing well on the charts Overall I'd say that 2010s influences on pop music will be completely dead by the end of 2023 and the start of 2024. Another good sign of this shift is the lack of #1 rap songs in the billboard hot 100 in 2023

The Australian charts are bad at the moment. Last Night by Morgan Wallen is at #2 (after a stint at the top spot) while Luke Combs' cover of Fast Car is at #3. Both are dull and annoying country songs in my mind.
The rest of the charts is stuff that has lingered forever.

She literally just released "Drivers License Part 2". Terrible, will be a big hit because white bread pop is very popular right now (See Taylor Swift)

When it comes to hit music, 2023 so far has been pretty dull other than that "Flowers" song from Miley Cyrus that I actually like.

It's kind of weird, it feels like the music industry was way more alive during corona times in 2020-21, then whatever 2022-23 are.

There really needs to be a change to the way the top-40 charts are calculated. This song is getting a huge amount of radio airplay here in Australia, but it has only peaked at #67 on the ARIA Chart. It's ridiculous. I was honestly surprised when I discovered that it's not currently a top-10 hit at the moment.
As for the song itself, I really wish David Guetta would stop his recent habit of butchering '90s pop songs. The original Haddaway version is much better than this.

This is significantly better than "Vampire". It feels less like a shallow retreat and has more of a personality and its hook actually goes. I also love the big 90s pop punk vibes of the chorus.

I have to say, even though Doja has been quite unlikeable lately, she made another song that just gets stuck in my head and found myself drawn back to.

I'm usually not a big fan of U2's music, but I quite like this new song from them. Parts of it remind me of London Calling by The Clash.
