Would you say so? If Trump loses and the pandemic ends next year, could these years be seen as a transition?

Isn’t this basically the same thread as the mid- to late 2010s one below it?

Probably but, pop culturally they're just a watered down mid 2010s (well, 2017 - mid 2018 atleast was). Late 2018 - 2019 was mildly different from the mid 2010s though. Tbh, I'm not really that fond of the Trump era.

Yeah, I personally I don't get why a lot of people are trying to force or frame a new era just based on the covid effect and the numerical start of a new decade and minute shifts or changes that has no bearing on popular culture. I still feel like we are in some kind of transition and at the very end of the dying or late 2010s influence or even era.
I do think we have something in common with late 2018 to late 2019, in many aspects related to the vibe and direction, and that early 2020 changed quite a lot, but pop culture hasn't magically just evolved into a new era with a totally different aesthetic since then to mark an entirely new period.
A solid new era could come about any time between next few months to early or even 2021-2022 or a bit after, there is no way to know. Also the situation is making a lot of things freeze which causes trends or things to not progress or change as fast.

I think right now we’re in a transitional era into early 2020’s culture. I don’t believe the pandemic drastically started 2020’s culture like many people believe.

Well, I think COVID-19 mostly started the 2020s since it's a world-altering event along the veins of the Spanish flu, Great Depression, WWII, 9/11, and the Great Recession. Now yes, we still have late 2010s influences this year, so I agree that we aren't in full 2020s culture yet. But by next year, if Biden gets inaugurated, the ninth generation of video games gets underway, the pandemic ends, and we're in a new music and fashion landscape, then I'd say we're in full early 2020s culture.

Covid along with what appears to be the collapse of American democracy and a takeover by the fundamentalist Christian Right. Things are going to get ugly in the U.S. soon. Add to that the total economic collapse we are facing. One thing that makes the late '10s different from the early '20s, even if trap is still popular, is that in the late '10s the economy was more or less doing pretty well. This is potentially the worst economy in U.S. history. Hopefully that potential doesn't realize but it's likely going to be a long road back that we won't really feel until the 2030s. 2020 has been a true nightmare. Hopefully it doesn't end with civil war in the US. I'm worried what is going to happen if/when Trump loses and attempts to stay in power regardless, with almost half the country backing him.

I agree with this, the pop culture of 2020 is identical to late 2018 and 2019. 2017 - mid 2018 is similar but, mildly different (a lot of definitive 2010s shows were still on the air and Tik Tok wasn't an influence in mainstream culture yet).

Meh, not really.
Pop culture in 2018 was incredibly different from pop culture in 2020, same with politics.
I guess you could make a case for late 2018/2019 being the start of the transition culturally, but politically? Hell no
