Wait does that mean even when people born after 2000 come of legal age, they still won't be able to buy them? Sounds like a good recipe to create a black market. I buy cigarettes legally and sell them to cash-carrying future adults born in the 2000s for profit lol.

It's hardly gonna stop 00s babies from having them in the end anyways because of dealers, well, that is until all you dinosaurs from the 1900s (sorry) are all gone.

What, by giving you lung cancer? Who said I was going to smoke it? I'm just selling it But you would have to move to Tasmania, not unless you would sell them on the internet and pay for postage fees.

(sorry for bumping a dead thread) I was just on Facebook looking at profiles of people I know (stalking maybe ) and about 75% of them had alcoholic drinks in their profiles, bar myself and my friends. They can do what they want, I don't care.. I guess my age group is coming up to 17, so it seems more acceptable.

They probably think it makes them look cool to have a photo of them holding an alcoholic drink.

This is a pretty controversial topic. While you could argue that the minimum drinking age should ethically be age 18 (since it is the age of majority), statistics show that people in their late teens-early 20s are at a higher risk of being involved in motor vehicle accidents. The human brain does not stop fully developing until around the Mid 20s and many people in the 18-21 age bracket have often been regarded as still being too "young" and "immature" to be consuming alcohol. I'm 18 myself, however I have chosen not to drink alcohol (because it doesn't appeal to me). Of course, there are people my age who are mature and responsible enough to consume alcohol, but there are plenty of others who simply aren't. What do you think? Do you believe the legal drinking age should remain at 18, or do you think it should be raised to age 21, like how it is in the US? It depends on the culture of the place maybe. Some people have said the U.S. has it backwards, that people should learn to responsibly handle alcohol before they can learn to drive and make the driving age older. That makes sense in a way. Introducing it in stages like other countries do, where you can have beer or wine, just drink in bars yet. Stronger alcohol when you're a few years older and can also drink at bars. There's one idea. Another would be to de-glamorize drinking culture. I think a big part of the issue is how drinking is a taboo and teens get into that because they know they're not supposed to. Some states have loopholes where a kid's parents can let only their own kids drink at home or if they order for them while out, but I'm not sure all the stipulations on that.

It's hard to say, because I think there are certain benefits to either reducing or raising the legal drinking age. First and foremost, I personally think the drinking culture needs to be addressed, as it is the contributing factor behind alcohol-related incidents. For as long as drinking continues to be glamorized within society, teens will continue to drink at any age they wish, regardless of the laws surrounding legal alcohol consumption.

No, the drinking age should be either 21 or 25.
Preferably 21.
