I voted for the Mid '90s, but I would personally like to see more atmosphere threads based on years from the '80s and '90s in general. I feel as though the 2000s years are overdone, they're well covered. 2002 alone has nine atmosphere threads.

When I think of the 2000s I mainly think of 2002-2007, with 2001 and 2008 being kind of transition points in and out. In a lot of ways, 2000 and 2009 are very different from my view of the what the 2000s were. Nowadays, some people think 2009 is the epitome of 2000s pop culture LOL. Some even extend it to 2012! I mean I don't hate the late 2000s at all but it is kind of ridiculous to call the early-mid 2000s an "extension of the 90s" (no, they aren't, except for 2000) and say that the late 2000s are the "real 2000s."

If these people say 2009 is the peak of 2000s culture, then it's probably the only 2000s year they remember. They extend it to the early 2010s because it is similar to 2009, the peak of 2000s according to them. The real 00s identity ranges from 2001-2008. The year 2000 has a watered-down late 90s look to it and 2009 felt like a trailer for the early 2010s.

TBH by late 2008 the 2000s "feeling" was pretty much already evaporating but still had some of the DNA 2001-2008 sounds about right
