2021 music will be the same as 2020 music - boring rubbish. If you don’t like the pop music of today, why are you still here? Not every song out now(or in the last few years) are all bad. Just like not every song from the past are great to listen to. There are great music from every decade. If you have a problem with the music of today, how about ignore it and listen to the music you grew up listen to. Just Saying.🙂

I sure hate the third category of OP's post with burning passion. As a trend it's only just boring and derivative, even if we got Miley Cyrus the new New Wave queen out of it. Bling bling rap was big and evolved from about 1997 all the way to 2007, I can definitely see trap being around for another five years seeing as it only became really mainstream around 2014/2015. "Bling bling rap" is a vague concept though. We still went from funk-sampling boom bap beats in 1997 to more party-oriented, drum machine-driven snap beats in 2007. That's a major change still. While trap is also a bit vague genre now, it definitely has more predominant and common features. This is true, but compare 2014-2016 era songs like "My N*gga", "Trap Queen" and "Panda" to more recent songs like "Rockstar", "What's Poppin'", "Lemonade", etc. and you'll see there's quite a difference. A major one being the use of guitar strings in the instrumentals is very common now and the bass is more "bouncy" now if that makes sense.

True not every song from the past is great (or even good) to listen to but there was at least some merit and diversity in it unlike today.
I'm seriously considering deleting my account anyway, much of this goes over my head.

When I listen to music from the late 90s and the early 2000s I'm always disappointed in modern music when I hear it again. Some modern songs sound borderline unlistenable compared to songs from back then.

I'm not usually one to side with the complainers, but I would be lying if I said I didn't also feel like there was a noticeable drop in general creativity and quality from the music I loved as a kid. I'm sure that's why a lot of us are here in the first place.

John Titor has wanted pop punk to return to the mainstream for years but I just don't see it. It's also not the right cultural environment for it. Pop punk does better during more lighthearted, carefree eras like the late 90s and very early pre-9/11 '00s.
2021 will continue to be dominated by trap most likely. There really isn't much else on the horizon.

There really isn't much else on the horizon. I agree on pop punk. The only major popular thing I've heard from the pop punk genre all year was MGK's album (which was actually pretty good imo). But I partially digress on 2021's musical outlook, though. While I still think trap will be the dominant pop subgenre, it'll probably be on the decline with (hopefully) something new or burgeoning from the underground becoming more popular.

Will there be female singer/songwriter artists among the likes of Michelle Branch & Vanessa Carlton? Well... Olivia Rodrigo is your answer

PC Music is popular in the mainstream? Irony (and satire) really is well and truly dead.
