God you guys sure love to completely derail an original statement How in the world "there were some late 2000s holdovers in 2011" (which there was, plenty even) was interpreted as "2011 was a 2000s year culturally!!!!" is just beyond me. That's not what the thread title is asking though. 🤔

2011 felt nothing like the 2000s, how is this even stretched lol Yes there was some people hanging on to 2000s fashions, but we were in a smartphone/hipster/ Occupy Wallstreet/Game of Thrones /ipad world by that point. Despite some people wearing outdated late 2000s fashion the atmosphere felt completely different. even TV felt diffrent. Maybe if you are comparing Late 2008 and all of 2009 to 2011 but............ does that really count that much......... and when I say "2000s" you know exactly what I mean 2001 - 2006/2007 Don't forget My Little Pony, though I'm sure you'd love to. To be fair the thread title does say "late 2000s". It's still confusing though what is meant by that. I mean, if we're including December 31, 2009 then I could see how people think 2011-2013 are similar. If we're talking about similar to 2006/2007 though then that's a completely different question. I think it would be helpful if people specified which part of the late 2000s they think 2011-2013 are similar to. It all depends on what part of the late 00s 2011 is connected to. If we are talking about 2009, then yes, there are plenty of similarities with 2011. 2008 did have some connections with 2011 but it depends on certain areas. Late 2006-2007 seemed foreign by 2011.

2012 still had some late 2000s leftovers, pre 8th generation gaming, electopop, cable TV was still popular, I think that in 2012 Netflix didn't even have their own original series

At a stretch, I would say 2010 since smartphones still hadn't become fully commonplace yet and there were still some rock songs on the charts (e.g "Whataya Want From Me"), but none of the early 2010s years were anything like the late 2000s.

All of the 2010s years give kind of a Sterile vibe
2010 does 2011 does 2019 does as well, like an empty white room with fluorescent lights and no furniture like a mental hospital room or something, its less prevalent with the early 2010s years but it was a theme/feeling

2010-2011 for sure, maybe some of 2012 but definitely not late 2012-2014

2011 but, only early 2011 (before May). 2010 and early 2011 were mostly 2010s but, they had a bit of 2000s culture left over still.

2010 is the ONLY possible exception and still then, I say nah. 2010 had late 2000s seeds, but they didn't have the right soil to grow them.

I wouldn't exactly say "pass for late 00s", but maybe 2010 since I remember most of my relatives and friends still using CRT TVs and feature phones.

2011 for various reasons. That was a transition into the core 10s culture.
