Looking back on the fashion, technology, internet culture, politics, music, etc. Which of these years could still pass for a late 00s year? I think that the last year that could at least VISIBLY pass for the late 2000s is 2011 due to the fact that feature phones were still common despite smartphones gaining more traction, fashion still was *slightly* leaning late 00s despite skinny jeans and hipster fashion being more popular and CRT TVs were still quite common although flatscreens were becoming the norm.

None of these years can pass off as 2000s. They're all different from the previous decade with the exception of 2009. Even the year 2010 was distinct from 2008.
If we're talking about leftovers, the last period with any visible traces of late 2000s culture was early 2013 but the early 2010s had a distinct culture from the late 00s.

The first few months of 2010 had some late 00s vibes left if anything. But not entirely. It was already the early 2010s in fall 2009.
After that some late 2000s influences were still hanging but less than before in mid 2010- early 2011.
The very last traces, which were even smaller, were there in mid 2011 to mid 2013. The last minuscule drops were in mid 2013 to early 2014 at most and we’re hardly noticeable.

In 2010 my parents rented out a house and when their term was up the tenants left their CRTVs behind. Literally, they left it on the floor, there were about 2 or 3 in all. Even then I was shocked people still had those around. We called a bunch of people asking them if they want a free TV and they all said NO once we revealed what kind of TV. We had to throw it in the junkyard in the end.

You don't know what you're missing until it's gone eh. 😳

For me it late 2006 to mid-2009 with even late 2005 having some hints of it, but other maybe think it peaked in 2009/2010 with Angry Birds and Obama. Maybe that's what people mean when they say the early 2010s had some 2000s elements. Personally, I just can't see it. The late 2000s in my mind were emo rock, snap rap, early YouTube, flip/slider/texting phones, iPods, MSN, MegaVideo, Britney Spears meltdown, Bush presidency etc. and none of that was around by 2010. In my mind even January 1, 2010 when Ke$ha and Beiber were on the radio just oozes 2010s, the decade started on time. But maybe other have a different perspective and are seeing things I'm not seeing.

Its 2000s element during that time would be things like mop haicuts, fliphones, scene culture, myspace, ipods etc which still had some degree of presence despite 2010s culture overtaking the 2000s by late 2009

The xbox 360 lasted so long from 2005-2013. I guess it's one of the "2000s" aspect that lasted into the 2010s.

I'm not a fan of short lived systems, its expensive and annoying. Also I think the 2000s and early 2010s were better for gaming in a way. Downloads, indie games, experimental genres were cool for 2012-2014, when they were new and exciting, but after got super annoying, in game purchasing and souless artistic direction literally killed games. We were bitching about it in 2008 but shit hit the fan in the mid 2010s. I barely pay attention to new games, they lack soul to me personally. I've never paid for in game stuff ever. I can't imagine games without cds.
