August 2006 is a calm before the storm month because that was before the late 2006 shift that changed the world forever. August 2013 is a good contender cuz it felt like a boring month with nothing happening similar 2 August 2001 in your view. August 2013 did not feel early 2010s anymore, but it did not feel mid 2010s yet. Early 2010s were long in the tooth in 2013 just like how the Y2K era was long in the tooth in 2001. Mid-late September 2013 was when it felt mid 2010s with the release of iOS 7 & GTA V. Funny how 2001 & 2013 r snake years. I was not a fan of 2013. I remember summer 2016, there was a dark vibe creeping in that I couldn't put my finger on maybe because of the Pulse Nightclub shooting. Spring-summer 2016 was mostly bright. I'd say September 2016 was a calm before the storm month. It felt carefree, relaxed, despite celebrities dying & the shitty election. October 2016 felt dark, mysterious or ominous because of the clown scare attacks, made that Halloween spookier. It was the month before the most fucked up election in my life. Then November 2016 happened. I agree with the above. I have mixed feelings 4 2016. I'd also say February 2020 was a calm before the storm month cuz that was before the lockdown and quarantine. To add to your list: September 2016 August 2006 August 2013 Did u rank them from most boring 2 least boring or the other way around? I put them in any order, August 2001 up until the last week when we went back to school was by far the most boring out of the bunch

I remember a lot of people complained about it being a dull year pop culturally. I'd say that July/August 2018 was a calm before the storm month in my life. 2018 & 2001 have the same calendar. not really August 2018 didn't have a mega event following it. August 2001 was like dead silent until the last week and weeks leading into 9/11. You had school obv, then the MTV VMAS which are regarded as the best VMAS of all time ( Britney snake) Michelle Branch and Shakira debuted around this time as well.

You had school obv, then the MTV VMAS which are regarded as the best VMAS of all time ( Britney snake) Michelle Branch and Shakira debuted around this time as well. Britney & Madonna kissed in 2003 VMAS. Miley Cyrus twerked on Robin Thicke in the 2013 VMAS. That's also when she went into a more adult direction as a backlash against her teeny bopper Disney days kind of like how Britney Spears went into an adult direction around the time of her 2001 VMA performance with "Slave 4 U." Lorde debuted in late 2013. Definitely none of these are as insane as the 2001 VMAS. I mean I think the kiss was more shocking as well as the Miley thing, but the change up of Britney's image kind of set the tone for the early 2000s pop template. It's often regarded as the greatest VMA moment of all time along with the kiss and the Madonna like a virgin song.

Even Christina changed her image 2 Xtina around 2001-2002. to be fair she started doing it in early 2001 with Lady Marmalade

I really don't see how any of these are truly comparable. February 2020 was a literally a month before a global pandemic took over the world and ultimately resulted in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people. Comparing such a defining moment in our history to an overexaggerated pop cultural shift is insensitive and making light of just how bad the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic was. The same can be said about the September 11 Attacks.

I lost my grandmother to Covid so trust me I know.
