I think music started to turn to shit when trap music got hyped up a lot in 2016, the beat and the generic-ness just gets on my fucking nerves. and also the rappers and singers now look gay as hell, Most kids now probably dick ride so hard that they probably force themselves to like it.

I'll say 2015 because that was when trap music got hyped the fuck up. Sure trap was around from maybe 2010 and definitely 2011-2014, but it wasn't all encompassing or dominating the airwaves. Other genres still charted during the first half of the 2010s. I agree that trap got more recognition in 2016 than in 2017, but even more so in 2017. 2015-mid 2017 was transitional. I guess the first three quarters of 2017 was decent musically because mid 2010s sounds lingered as much as people hate admitting, but then it fell off the face of the earth by late 2017. Late 2017 was when the radio was all trap and when the late 2010s kicked in. 2018 was horrendous for mainstream music because trap was the only genre on the radio.
Underground has great material.

Music can never die. There’s always good stuff out there depending on your taste and where you look

It didn't. I like (most of) the music of the Late 2010s, and what we have now.

I understand because most of the music of now i listen to is mostly underground rap. but really imo i shouldn't have to do all that stuff just to find good quality music. mainstream stuff now suck a lot of ass to me because nowadays it's like you can get famous for doing the most generic shit, just take a look at people like cardi b and tik tok stars that just dance and they instantly get famous. even on youtube, youtube ain't even the same anymore because they mostly promote the shitty mainstream of now, i really feel like there people out here that can make better music then the people we currently have on the mainstream. But honestly that's just my opinion, what do you think?

What’s wrong with looking gay as hell? David Bowie created some of best music of the last 40 years. All the most iconic 80s artists looked gay as hell. I can’t see what’s wrong with anyone dick riding unless it’s an adult and an kid, that’s sick.

The number one hit single in 1969 wasn’t Jimi Hendrix’s If 6 Was 9, or The Band’s Born to Be Wild; it was garbage Archies song Sugar, Sugar. Most people were not listening to hardcore punk in the ‘80s, like Dead Kennedys and Bad Religion. In the ‘90s and ‘00s, the best rap had to offer was not the commercialized crap on the radios like 50 Cent or Soulja Boy. It has always been like this. The actual greats of the 2010s will become more apparent with time, but I will say that it’s been the case for years now that the most interesting material comes from the alternative scene and the underground.

Bro..., 50 cent was good. and i don't really listen to songs anywhere before the 80s, i Mainly listen to 90s and 2000s rap music. and even if people did not listen to grunge music in the 90s im sure that most of the songs everyone did listen to was a lot better then what we have now. like Lord's of the underground. Nowadays most rappers sound like Eminem's worst songs if you know what i mean

And all I’m saying is with hindsight, the greatest hits of the 2010s will become apparent. There’s always plenty to find in the underground. With rare exceptions, the mainstream has always sucked. Edit: Also, I’m sure it’s highly debatable whether the likes of Mudhoney or ‘N Sync are actually “better” than Ian Diorr or Billie Eilish.

I’d go as far as saying that DMX, 2Pac and Biggie (May those legends RIP.) are better than 50 Cent, even though 50 Cent is better than most of today’s rappers.
