And I'd say it wasn't even that bad then. I enjoy a lot of the songs released from 2014-2017, but I enjoy today's scene much better.

I guess the first three quarters of 2017 was decent musically because mid 2010s sounds lingered as much as people hate admitting, but then it fell off the face of the earth by late 2017. Late 2017 was when the radio was all trap and when the late 2010s kicked in. 2018 was horrendous for mainstream music because trap was the only genre on the radio. Literally this. Music really took a turn for the worse around September/October 2017 and hasn't really recovered since imo.

To me music never dies. Every year has its ups and downs in terms of how good a song sounds.

Lol
I remember back in the early 10s how people hated the popular music of the times and used to say music died after 1999
You people are literally doing the same shit nowadays

I do think late 2017 to mid 2018 was terrible for music tho
I feel the same way towards 1987-1989, the early 90s and a good chunk of the 60s/70s

Felt very factory by 2013, watered down by 2015, started to die between mid 2018 to 2019..still in the process.

Music doesn't die. What a ridiculous concept. It just ebs and flows when it comes to quality. Some periods are just worse than others. 1974 is the still worst year for popular music ever, but so many great years came after it.
For the 2010s, IMO there was a decline starting in 2014 before bottoming out in 2016 and picking up again in 2018.

Around 2018-2019, more like stagnation.
