No offense, but 50 Cent could never dream of touching, say, MF Doom or Tech N9ne. Those guys are/were goddamn legends. And all I’m saying is with hindsight, the greatest hits of the 2010s will become apparent. There’s always plenty to find in the underground. With rare exceptions, the mainstream has always sucked. I’d go as far as saying that DMX, 2Pac and Biggie (May those legends RIP.) are better than 50 Cent, even though 50 Cent is better than most of today’s rappers. Preach. Especially X.

Bro..., 50 cent was good. and i don't really listen to songs anywhere before the 80s, i Mainly listen to 90s and 2000s rap music. and even if people did not listen to grunge music in the 90s im sure that most of the songs everyone did listen to was a lot better then what we have now. like Lord's of the underground. Nowadays most rappers sound like Eminem's worst songs if you know what i mean No offense, but 50 Cent could never dream of touching, say, MF Doom or Tech N9ne. Those guys are/were goddamn legends. And all I’m saying is with hindsight, the greatest hits of the 2010s will become apparent. There’s always plenty to find in the underground. With rare exceptions, the mainstream has always sucked. Edit: Also, I’m sure it’s highly debatable whether the likes of Mudhoney or ‘N Sync are actually “better” than Ian Diorr or Billie Eilish. me personally i would agree that mainstream nowadays suck a lot of major ass. I like underground to and other stuff and tupac, billie ellish is cringe as fuck. Honestly the person that runs the music industry now needa to get fired just like the lady that runs youtube now, because there not doing anything good. I'll agree that there were a lot of shitty mainstream music from the past to but i feel like it was rare to run in to those back then.

You know i just fucking hate it when a rapper that use to make good music from the past does a feature with a shitty rapper of now. i mean i get they do it for the attention so they can stay relevant but it's just so painful. like you have so much more talent why would you bring yourself that low, it's just painful bruh. honestly i have to agree that rap music died when the beat became more important then the lyrics. honestly i hate how most people now can call rappers now rappers, they say it's not about thw lyric it's about the beat, THEN NIGGA PLEASE DONT CALL IT RAP(also I'm black). Rap is about the lyrics and always has been, i hate how everyone give these people attention, even 6ix9ine admitted that there could be someone that raps better then them

I dunno, I just think we forget with the passage of time just how many garbage bands/artists there were in the '90s too. For every 2Pac or Soundgarden, there was a Staind or Silverchair. Staind especially was the worst, they were like grunge's inbred cousin. Things were just as shit then, it's just one of the benefits of the passage of time is we only remember the good stuff.

DMX (RIP Legend) was at his peak popularity in both the late 90s and early 2000s, so he counts as 2000s too, like Jay-Z. As for great 2000s rappers who came to popularity in the 2000s, you got 2000s Kanye who was amazing back then.

I never experienced the 2000s and 90s and I'm 15 years old, I'm not being a nostalgia tard or anything but mainstream music back then was better. i get every era had a kid like me but me personally i feel like i have a good reason to not like music now(sorry if I'm contradicting myself) because most music creators now are not really talented, they just found a way to get clout like bhad baby or just make money from controversy, just take a look at who people now are making famous. And i also heard that charlie demilio made a song, and also female singer now are just whores. i get there was sexual songs back then to but at least back then the creativity of the song disguised that to make it seem like there just making out, now it's literally just out there and everyone and there grandma's can see it. I enjoy listening to game soundtracks more then modern day music. i get people have there taste in music but i feel like people who listen to music now just listen to it for the memes and trend, because i notice that the only old songs most kids my age know are the ones that are in memes. Most of them probably don't know who lord of the underground is until the rap crew probably gets mentioned in a meme in like 4 years from now idk

Most of them probably don't know who lord of the underground is until the rap crew probably gets mentioned in a meme in like 4 years from now idk I was born in 1990 so I experienced at least the tail end of it firsthand, so I can tell you there were just as many talentless hacks then as now. I guess one thing that might change your perception is that with the Internet, it's just simply easier for the talentless ones to broadcast themselves, whereas in the '90s and '00s they at least needed a record deal or some way of circulating demo tapes. And if you think female singers weren't similarly accused of being whores back in the '90s, whoa nelly. Also, you may be familiar with Khia. In case there's any doubt, I don't mean any disrespect at all when I'm saying all of this. I think the difference here is I do have the perspective of having experienced the supposed "good old days" firsthand. And I think with age comes the realization that our nostalgia for the past, while real to a certain degree, is also tinted by rose-colored glasses. Things have always been this bad, and they were also never better.

Your not wrong, but honestly i still think when it comes to creativity the 2000s and 90s was better. they might have been trash to people that experience that but to me, comparing it to those 6ix9ine and lil uzi people, i personally think the 2000s was better. it's probably because when i was younger my uncle use to make me listen to his old music that he had. most of them were rap music and r&b. and also I'm not disrespecting you to, i understand if you don't find 2000s music good and because I'm not gonna lie there are some 2000s music that i hated and everyone would straight up insult me if i said it out loud lol. There even underground rappers from the 90s i listen to that didn't have a lot of records. These are currently my favorite rap right now: These are songs i feel nostalgic for, you probably might view them are gay or trash:

I will be honest with you, I am not a fan of Black Eyed Peas. Tyler, the Creator and the whole Wolfgang are my gods. Also Death Grips.

I ain't a really big fan of tylor to, but i do love black eye peas... when they were good. it appears to seem that people that were teens when i was still a toddler seem to hate the songs i get nostalgic for. and i don't blame em because there songs now that just annoy the shit out of me, especially the tik tok one's.

2016-2017 was the point where popular music started to lose on me. 2018-2019 were an improvement, but my interest currently has been severely hurt by the shoddiness of 2020 and hasn't really recovered as of yet.

LOL??? I remember back in 2015 people used to say music died in 1999 lmfao. Music never "died", you're 15 dude but you sound like you're 45, diversify your taste in music or you'll forever be stuck in the 2010s.
