I gotta feeling that the fall of 2021 would be different from now. IDK if you heard about this but the Biden Administration is going to withdrawal the US troops from Afghanistan on September 11th, 2021(20 years since that day). heard about that yeah, only fitting 20 years since 9/11

In hindsight, 2019 does seem more 2010s than it was living in it.

The vibe did feel different from 2018 but it was just its own unique version of the late 2010s vibe IMO, "Old Town Road" for example. If COVID hadn't happened and the vibe change that happened in 2019 stuck through 2020-2021, then it would hold more weight as a transition into the "early 2020s". But as it is, its just a unique part of the late 2010s.

For example, 1989 looks strongly late 1980s just like 2019 looks strongly late 2010s. I’m fine with 2018 or 2019 being the quintessential late 2010s years.

An 80s/10s year disguised as a 90s/20s year. due to COVID, that isn't that case, though.

If 2019 was a Sonic game it would be Sonic CD (weird off beat, strange but somewhat connected) Or Super Maro Bros 2 if it was a Mario Game.

Agreed 2019 was unique and somewhat transitional. I love 2019. 2013 was also another year that had its own flavor to it which I don’t like. People expected 2018 to be changeful like 2008 which never happened, so they were disappointed and shitted all over 2018.

I love 2019 too. I feel like 2019 doesn't get a lot of love. 2019 is underrated imo

2014, 2016 and 2019 are underrated. 2013, 2015, 2017 are overrated. 2010 and 2012 might also be overhyped. well I hated 2019 ( for other reasons ) lol but 2012 is def over hyped if anything 2011 is under hyped and I never seeing it get that much love

As its name suggests, COVID-19 actually started in 2019 (with the first case appearing in November in China). And 2019 is when I noticed pop culture shift in another direction with the release of The Mandalorian and the popularity of Gen Z artists like Billie Eilish popping up, and the first real foldable phone being released (Samsung's original Z Fold). We are in a sub-era now and if all goes well with the vaccines then this pandemic will be a thing of the past by January 2022 and we will see some new stuff come out then. This is a similar case like the Y2K era. I would not include 2019 in this era. 2019 had more in common with 2015 than 2021 and was the last hurrah of the 2010s. This is also the opposite of the Y2K era, which was very bright and forward thinking. The current era is very dark and regressive. As far as pop music, this is more like the early '90s than the Y2K era.
