I would not include 2019 in this era. 2019 had more in common with 2015 than 2021 and was the last hurrah of the 2010s. This is also the opposite of the Y2K era, which was very bright and forward thinking. The current era is very dark and regressive. As far as pop music, this is more like the early '90s than the Y2K era. 2019 absolutely does not have more in common with 2015 than 2021, that’s an exaggeration. How so? If pop music is removed from the equation, I don't think it's an exaggeration. The pandemic has literally changed EVERYTHING about our lives and this society. The Trump economic crash destroyed the last vestiges of 2010s culture. 2019 really was the end of an era. Also, in my opinion pop music is in a place similar to 1989-1992 i.e. mostly stagnant with hints of what is coming.

Hahahahahahahahaha 2019 doesn’t have more in common with 2015 than 2021 because of the pandemic. 2015 and 2019 are 4 years apart. 2015 was core 2010s, mid 2010s and possibly peak 2010s. 2019 isn’t core or peak 2010s. 2019 is possibly peak late 2010s. 2021 isn’t core 2020s, which I don’t believe will begin until sometime in 2023. 2019 and 2021 are 2 years apart. 2021 is culturally early 2020s because this is the first year of Biden’s presidency, first full year of all things COVID related and the PS5 is out. We are seeing hints of new music and fashion trends. 2021 is barely removed from the late 2010s, especially 2019 in terms of fashion, music, gaming, TV, movies, lifestyle and pop culture. Pop culture is stagnant right now. Whoever said we’ll be living in the aftermath of 2019 during the early 2020s is right. It feels like 2020-2021 is an endless 2019 time loop, just worn out. I wish I could meet my friends at a bar or go enjoy a street festival or an art show like I did in 2019. Pop MUSIC is stagnant right but the overall zeitgeist is absolutely nothing like 2019. This is like a dystopian hellhole. 2020 was the biggest cultural shift in at least 50 years if not since WWII. There's light at the end of the tunnel, but the post-pandemic world is going to be very different from the world most of us grew up in.

There's light at the end of the tunnel, but the post-pandemic world is going to be very different from the world most of us grew up in. Picture this: Once you arrive at the end of the tunnel in a train, you'll see far less social distancing, malls are reopening, so are museums, parks, concerts, and tourist attractions. Masks may still be required in some areas but normal life is getting back on its feet in the United States. The economy is still destroyed, but the government is making strides to boost the economy back to pre-pandemic levels, and new people are opening new businesses. That's literally happening right now in several countries like Australia, Israel, China, etc. Heck, some parts of the United States are reopening, so please don't feel sad that the future is not gonna be the same, be happy that there are more exciting things to come. It's all about a matter of patience here

I know that sounded easier said than done, but note that things are likely going to get worse before it gets better. It's not easy, but it is not impossible. What's gone is gone, but hope for what's good to come
