Wow, it actually does sound a lot like a boyband song. Great job to whoever made it (Billie and Finneas?) The overall songs reminds me of Britney "Overprotected" + it's gonna be me. The beatboxing part was probably lifted from "Pop" by nsync

Teen Pop songs always ended eith explosive choruses.

They seem very confused.

It's weird because the person directing this is said to be taking inspiration from their youth years I guess we're now giving the 2000s the same inaccurate treatment we gave the 90s, 80s & before

This movie was okay, but much of the time it had me frustrated by the inaccuracies. When utilizing pretty recent of history, any errors can be really obvious. With live-action it doesn't even bother me as much because I understand the limitations in budgeting and finding props, but Pixar animation is so high quality, it's kind of inexcusable not to have everything just right.
Things I noticed that felt wrong for 2002: Ugg boots and butterfly clips in one outfit. These were unlikely to coexist, clips skewing late 90's and Ugg brand getting more popular in the mid 00's. Chokers were on their way out. Not gone, but not that prominent. Late for the boy band craze in general, especially "curtain" hairstyle, but too early for guys in nail polish. Saying "OMG" at least out loud was not a known thing for a few more years, perhaps 2005? Who still had a Tamagotchi?

The fact it has boy bands and Tamagotchis, it really should’ve taken place in 1999 or something rather than 2002.

At least that would make more sense since that year has tons of late 90s hangovers. Tbf, 2002 had one last boy band hit, although it heavily leans early 2000s R&B with Neptunes production.

Turning Red is shaping up to be Pixar's biggest hit movie since Coco, at least "Turning Red" seems to be having a cultural impact, unlike Soul and Onward (no one gave a shit about these two, and you can't blame JUST Covid for that)
Don't get me wrong, Turning Red is still gonna flop in the box office, but at least people are talking about it
It just seems like people don't give a shit about Pixar movies anymore lol, it's not a selling point anymore

I noticed a change in Pixars art direction since Luca. They seem to incorporate the "calarts" aesthetic into 3D. If this were to take place in 2002, they should've played something like Sk8er Boy or Get This Party Started in the trailer. Not just design wise but the characters in this movie move in a very weird way too, their bodies and facial expressions move very fast Probably because the younger generations nowadays have very short attention spans

And it was a great movie IMO. Onward...yeah, you're right about that one. It was OK, but not great. Maybe Lightyear will get more attention. After all, it IS based off the Toy Story franchise. It's kinda sad that Pixar's golden age from the early-mid 2000s has ended honestly. When Monsters Inc, Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, and Cars were the biggest things in the world.

Think Adventure Time or Teen Titans Go. They are more fast-paced than 2000s cartoons, which in turn are more fast-paced than 90s cartoons, which in turn are more fast-paced than 80s cartoons. That applies to movies as well. I've seen animated movies and cartoons from the 80s, and they all seem to move in a very stiff and slow way. It honestly resembles anime in that regard. Also regarding modern animated movies and cartoons. For the most part, they tend to be quite minimalistic and low-detail. There ARE exceptions, of course, but it seems like in the 2000s, and ESPECIALLY the 90s, they were a lot more detailed looking.

Inside Out was the last Pixar movie to feel like a Pixar movie, since then we had garbage like "The Good Dinosaur" (huge wasted potential with that one) Cars 3, unnecessary sequels and spin-offs like Finding Dory (ugh) Toy Story 4 and The Incredibles 2, and Coco... That was basically a Disney movie, not a Pixar movie

Cause before that you had Monsters University, Brave (which also feels more Disney than Pixar), and the worst Pixar movie of all: Cars 2. The only other Pixar movie that I can say I truly loved from that decade would be Toy Story 3, which feels more like a 2000s Pixar movie TBH.
