This kinda makes me sad. *Melodic* Trap, Drill and R&B are the only genres right now that interest me. Throwback music is so long-in-the-tooth. Yeah Drill and R&B interest me too. I do not care about throwback pop and country. You are right. Throwback music is so long in the tooth. I think throwback music is also long in the tooth. Of course throwback music has been around forever, but it was all encompassing in the 2010s with Bruno Mars, Goyte, etc. I would rather the 2020s have their unique sounds instead of rehashing past decade sounds. All I pray is that ringtone and snap rap stays in the second half of the 2000s where they belong. Right. Also, melodic trap has only been a thing since 2018 with Juice WRLD, and people are already wishing it to go away, while celebrating the same old 80s throwback songs that have been popular for the last decade. It's so annoying IMO. I feel like I might be the only one here who hopes that melodic trap stays and evolves through the early 2020s, and that throwback hits go away.

I am happy that one Drake song fell off the top 100. 😂 Which song? Holy f, this could be huge... I hope he flops hard

Which song? Holy f, this could be huge... I hope he flops hard I think it is Drake’s - “What’s Next?” I got it from the Billboard video. I also hope he flops hard. Drake is sooo 2010s. I thought he retired in 2019. I do not know why Drake ever thought he can still be relevant. His 2021 album seems like a part 2 of his 2018 album, late 2010s, nothing new or interesting imo. That 2017 and 2018 late 2010s sound is stale by now. I think Drake peaked from 2010 to 2016. 2009 was the transition into his peak and 2017 was the transition out of his peak. By 2018 Drake seemed past peak. Really? I think his peak was more like 2010-2018 ("Thank Me Later" to "Scorpion").

It’s nice to have some diversity every once and a while on the charts. It’s a little too much when you have just trap or country dominating the top 10 or whatnot.

The 80s rehash in popular music now is annoying to me. I get it the 80s was a great time for music. But at this points, the 1980s is so overrated (unpopular opinion I know).

Only one I hope stays is Dua Lipa, since she actually adds a unique style and flavour instead of being just "80s were so awesome! 80s!!!"

Trap has been overplayed since 2018, so I think it's time for a change

In hip-hop, the sampling of 2000s club bangers is starting to become annoying. It was nice every once and a while, but now so many songs are doing it.

I don't see any edm in the charts either, like 0 songs I do not see either EDM in the charts either. I think EDM has been dead since late 2018 or 2019. The charts are mostly pop punk, country, pop, some 2020 holdover songs and little trap. Marshmello is still in the charts so EDM is still alive. But it's on its last legs for sure just like trap. It definitely didn't die in 2018/2019, a bunch of DJs have been pumping out popular hits since then. Mainly Marshmello and Lauv. Last year RTMO and Roses were very high on the charts, especially Roses, and those are hardcore EDM songs. In fact, Roses was number 1 for a few weeks last summer. So I don't know why people say its been dead since 2018. I actually see EDM surviving longer than trap since new EDM hits seem to chart much higher than new trap hits respectively.

Do you have any examples of 2020 and 2021 edm hit songs? The last edm hit song I can remember was either happier or the middle Marshmallow has been releasing some (trash, as always) "edm" songs since 2019, but they all underperform and they are all heavily influenced by other genres, to the point where they sound like diluted trap/country. Back in 2016, the charts were full to the brink with loud edm songs.
