This song is the perfect representation of early 2020s pop music. It defines the general vibe of the music of the early 2020s. In the future,, if people hear this song they will think of the early 2020s since the sound represents it so well.

But it's an 80s throwback lol Yeah but almost every pop song you hear in the early 2020s starting from very late 2019 / early 2020 is an '80s throwback. Blinding Lights is an example of this.

I think these are a better representation First two I agree with but how is a song literally meant to sound like the Early 2000s a perfect representation of the Early 2020s?

It represents the pop rock/pop punk comeback. A lot of songs in 2021 are pop punk inspired or have guitar instrumentals/sounds but still put their own spin on the genre imo. The verses in Good 4 U isn’t really inspired by pop rock like the chorus is

I completely disagree with this. Its just another filler 80s inspired track. Good 4 U despite paying homage to the early 2000s pop rock but with a modern twist to it.

Just sounds like a throwback song that could have been released 5 years ago to me.

I wish there were a unique sound in the early '20s, but it looks like we will have to wait until the mid '20s for that. In the meantime, the defining sound of music is this '80s retro dance pop for the early 2020s. The best way to describe it is as a fusion between 2010s pop and '80s pop. I understand there are other styles that are popular now too but this sound feels the most popular in this era. It started in early 2020 and it is still going strong. But I can see it dying out in 2022 in favour for a new, unique mid 2020s style of music.

I sense there's going to be a huge musicak revolution in the mid to late 20s, similar to what happened in the 60s. And yeah, the state of music in 2021 is depressing because every hit is either a throwback or a 2010s left over

I think these are a better representation Agreed. 80s throwback pop and the pop punk revival seem to be the hallmarks of this era, but again, they aren't exactly unique to the 2020s.
