Film and gaming didn't really decline until 2011 and 2013 respectively IMO. I don't think either have declined, just that there's worse years than others. 2013 was a great year for gaming IMO, with GTA V, The Last of US and Battlefield 4 being highlights.

2011 was a good year for gaming. You got Skyrim, Minecraft full release, and Pokemon B&W. Also the 3DS was released in 2011.

2010 is a prime example of a year that's dated in a GOOD way. No political alt-right/Donald Trump bullshit, shiny skeuomorphic aesthetics vs. shitty Blob Web like today, Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network were still popular, less privacy invasion from modern technology, social media didn't control people's lives, no cancel culture. I also think movies and video games were better in 2010 vs today. Superheroes didn't completely dominate the box office, and video games still had soul put into them. Fewer microtransactions. Less buggy. Film and gaming didn't really decline until 2011 and 2013 respectively IMO. 2010-2013 still had some of that 2000s soul leftover I think. Minimalism and shit like that really took over by 2014 (maybe late 2013 but still).

Bieber haircuts were still a thing in 2010, also leftover bell bottoms from the 00s I remember older teen girls would wear. The fashion was definitely different in 2010.

Yeah but that does not mean the energy felt the same as the 2000s, example, some people still wear man buns and dated Hipster fashion, but does it feel like the 2010s ? No not really.

Where did I say they were the same? I never said that or even brought up the 00s, the question was just what makes 2010 dated or recent. This question said nothing or is it about comparing the 2010s to the 00s. I never said the 2010s & 00s are the same and I don’t think that, don’t put words in my comment that aren’t there.

Not putting words in your mouth chill out Then I don’t get why you implied that I thought the 00s and 10s were the same, you should’ve expected confusion. I was listing off some fashion sense that makes 2010 dated compared with 2022, that doesn’t mean I don’t think 2010 has recent aspects. For example I think 2010 is still more similar to 2022 as a year technologically than 2000 was to 2010 or 2010 was to 2000.

Yea I would say around the time the Xbox One came out with it's bullshit about being for television, and how they were gonna have DRM (they did reverse it though) is when gaming went into decline.

2010 still had that carefree anything goes vibe that died in the mid 10s.

You took the words out of my mouth. And we are still living with those kind of repercussions to this day. Nowadays gaming is entirely digital, and whilst this does make gaming more convenient, it also gives rise to DRM and various kinds of bullshit that never existed in gaming beforehand. I actually remember hearing about an incident where physical PS4 games would become unplayable because of an update. Game companies exploiting their franchises rather than trying anything new, DLC, broken games upon release. 2013 was also the year Call of Duty: Ghosts came out, and that's when that particular franchise went downhill.

O no "Baby" by Justin Bieber and "Poker Face" by Lady Gaga are my favorite 80s songs. And of course, we can't forget iconic 80s video games like Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and Farmville. Who could forget iconic 80s movies like Transformers...Revenge of the Fallen, Up, and The Hangover.
