I came across a music video from 2010 that is completely SD and looks straight out of 2005 based on the quality.

Yes, but most TVs in 2010 were plasma and 720p, while in 2019 they were OLED and 4k. Pretty drastic change in image quality. TVs from 2010 also have bigger bezels. Well, that goes for everything with a screen lol. Smart TVs were also hardly a thing in 2010. Instead, it was all about 3D TVs, because that was the hottest craze every company thought was going to take off. But that wasn’t the case. Curved TVs also weren’t a thing in the early 2010s. It’s funny how TVs were super rectangular and boxy in the 80s, then became curvy in the 90s, then switched to flat screens in the 2000s and first half of the 2010s, then during the second half of the 2010s, they go back to being curvy.

TBH I feel as though the late 2000s/early 2010s as an era are dated, but not old-school/retro. Like it’s not the same feeling looking at an old HDTV from 2008 vs looking at a CRT from 1999. I guess because HD digital TV, no matter how old, doesn’t really have the same vibe as analog CRTs. It’s the same with video games. 7th Gen is dated, but way too advanced for me to call “retro”.
