The two rat years of the 21st century so far are 2008 and 2020. Coincidence, I think not.
I guess we'll have to wait until 2032 for another big shift.

That's definitely quite a coincidence. 1996 was a significant shift as well as that was the beginning of the digital era. '96, '08, and '20 were all major shifts in my personal life. This zodiac cycle is the "metal" cycle which is particularly ominous. The last year of the metal rat was 1960.

And it isn't as big of a shift as 2008 or 2020 You have no memory of anything before 2004, if you did you would know why 2001 had a shift felt as big as 2008. I agree not as big as 2020 tho. So if you have no memory of 2003,2002 there is no way you can clearly remember 2001 and how it felt living in it. Apples and oranges between every shift year, but 2001 was very pivotal and not just 9/11. 2001,2008 are the biggest shift years of the 2000s.

It really is apples and oranges, and 2001 is not like 2004 or 2006 shifts, the world was kind of reshaped in 2001 in a way ( even before 9/11 hit)

No but I can do a thing called research. 2001 had 9/11 and somewhat of a shift in pop culture. But still, the shifts in 2008 with the recession start, obama being elected and the very start of electropop being popular is way bigger. Namely the recession. 9/11 is a one off event which warrants a shift but not as significant as the stock market completely crashing, many people losing their houses, their jobs and businesses, etc. 2008 shift is multifaceted, 2001 shift is 99% 9/11. This isn't just me theorizing, most people that vividly remember the time agree on this.

Yes you have changes in pop culture but that was the defining world altering event shift that year. When people say "pre 9/11" or "post 9/11", they're not talking about fashion or gaming or music.
