If the pandemic ends, that will be a massive shift no matter what is playing on the radio. Would be so nice to be able to just get on with life.

I like the theory that the early 2020s are an inverted 2006/2008, with 2020 being a huge shift on the level of 2008 and 2022 being a smaller but still significant shift on the level of 2006.
I could see COVID fading in the 2022-2023 season, with some concerns lasting into 2024. I think it'll stop being considered a pandemic sometime in 2023.

If the pandemic ends, that will be a massive shift no matter what is playing on the radio. Would be so nice to be able to just get on with life. Somewhat. But the new normal will still be around. If masks mandates go away, you're still gonna see people wearing masks for years still especially on public transit and it will be seen as a normal thing for a while. Same as the aftermath of the pandemic economically. So it's really not a huge shift since we'll still see the new way of life even after the pandemic ends. I don't think the next "huge" shift will be until the early 2030s or around then. It usually happens every 10-12 years where we get a huge shift that changes everything. The last one was 2020. The one before that was 2008. The next one may be in 2030 or 2031, or around then.

I don't think it's going to end until 2023 at the earliest. There are no signs it's going to end soon.

Even if the pandemic is no longer a thing the aftermath effects on the economy will still be around.

Summer 2009 the recession ended and yet the economy didn't bounce back until 2014 Would you say late 2014 was when the economy bounced back and the Great Recession became an afterthought? Malls were pretty empty in 2012. I think 2013 was when the economy started slowly improving. I would say early 2014

By 2030, the pandemic should be firmly in the rearview mirror and hopefully the economy is finally coming back on a solid foundation, similar to the post-WWII recovery from the Great Depression. I don't think it's possible to predict what music will be like then but I do think more uptempo dance songs will become popular once the winds of history change direction, but it won't be electropop or a revival of the 80s or anything like that. It will be something new. A lot could happen in the 2020s though to prevent an optimistic 2030s from happening. This is going to be a rough decade.

I would say early 2014 This is probably about right. 2014 was when it was starting to feel like it wasn't a recession anymore. However, unemployment was still pretty bad in a lot of places until 2015. Places in the sunbelt had recovered by then.

Even if the pandemic is no longer a thing the aftermath effects on the economy will still be around. Small business has been decimated and the "urban revival" of the 2010s has been set back 30 years or more. It's so depressing. I think the worst for the economy will be in the mid 2020s, either during Biden's second term or a second Trump term. I'm predicting sustained unemployment north of 15% and several major bank failures. If Trump is in power, we may see the end of the U.S. dollar as the world's reserve currency. People aren't ready for what that means for everyday life. I think provided the GOP doesn't take power, now through around 2028 will be bad but 2029 going into 2030, things will turn around.
