not all genres die this fast Except pop rock isn't dying? The so called "backlash" hasn't really started yetHell, the genre is barely back, it's not going anywhere right now the backlash has already started for pop punk hence why I made this thread, your not in the music industry, which is why you don't see anything. But let twitter sound off for you. as for barely back, pop punk has been back since atleast 2019, already has been 3 years, pop rock and pop punk are 2 different things.

I'm still having a hard time believing that pop-punk is already getting backlash in 2022. How can we reach the late 2006 to 2009 barrier with pop-punk music so quickly? I'm disappointed. I feel like potential existed with that trend. I think in the 2000s, it was between late 2006 and 2009 that people got sick of 2000s pop-punk, unsure. I'm baffled. This makes no sense. I feel like the early 2020s wave of pop-punk just properly started in Q2 2021, after being underground from Q4 2018 through Q1 2021. I hoped this new incarnation of pop-punk would last us through 2022. If early 2020s pop-punk really dies by 2023, then I hope a better and more cohesive rock culture replaces it. I'd really like for psychedelic rock to come or rock music inspired from between the 1960s through the 1990s. What a shame that pop-punk isn't being fully embraced. The 2020s could really be the first full fragmented decade. had not Travis Barker go in cringe mode with Mcdonald's commercial music maybe it would have seen as cooler, think of it like this, can you really get down to a song after you heard it in an ad for Liberty mutual ? Prob not. The When we were Young festival looks like one of those Boomer hits of the 70s commercials. In a span of 3 1/2 we exhausted 8 years worth of pop punk culture lol Oh and it's getting worse every day, you should see what I am seeing being written on Discord lol, Blink 182 was this respected band and now is being tossed to the bushes as garbage lol Makes sense now that you put it that way. You’re right. The backlash against pop punk is reminding me of the backlash teen pop got in 2001. People will now try to get pop punk kicked off the charts or their music videos taken down from music countdown videos if that’s still around. Commercials ruin songs for me, so I get what you mean. That’s crazy we exhausted 8 years of pop punk culture in 3.5 years lol. Oh no that’s terrible it’s getting worse everyday. Sometimes I feel like the backlash is deserved with the way pop punk culture turned out by now, but it’s sad at the same time. I should check that out lol. Wow Blink 182 fell to the bottom so fast lol. I feel like the backlash against the current wave of pop punk may have had roots in late 2021, causing a pop punk fatigue or maybe that might be right now in early 2022. I remember in the 2021-2022 season forecast you did, you predicted scene might come back in summer 2022, so maybe that might be the punk punk replacement come fall 2022.

Pop rock in general will still be around because people don't want guitars to leave ever again.

I don't believe in Twitter being a representative of mainstream society. Pop punk has absolutely not been back since 2019..... Maybe bubbly under in 2019? MAYBE. But actually mainstream? Hell no, it came back in 2020 I actually agree that the current pop-rock revival is gonna be dead by 2023/24, but simply because throwback genres die FAST The nu-disco revival of late 2019/2020 is already dead, the current synthpop revival will definitely lose steam this year or next one.

Emo nite actually has been around since 2017 and Pop Punk in general has been mainstream in late 2019 it's just it didn't get that much buzz, was not until Bloody Valentine a pop punk song charted that high. The thing with this genre is it's trying to be a real thing coming back instead of a quick flash which is not sitting well with people because we can see thru the bs. The Nu Disco revival has many vibes of this pop punk revival in that its just a quick flash in the pan trend

I would guess it might stay around until 2023-2024 or bit longer even if it becomes largely despised at some point a bit more than now. While the backlash is happening now it seems it will bigger later this year or the next.

It's starting to get pretty trendy in 2022. Rock music seems to be making a comeback.

While the backlash is happening now it seems it will bigger later this year or the next. I say this might likely be the case even with the growing backlash against pop punk. We may still get pop punk inspired songs from mid 2022 through mid 2024, even if they maybe less so than 2019 through early 2022 and fading at the same time. I think by late 2024, all traces of this current wave of pop punk will be gone. I think it will continue to get increasingly popular even more than now, even though its been popular and mainstream since mid 2021, picking up in 2020, but also at the same time it will be increasingly cringe and despised and watered down until it fades in at some point the mid 2020s. Lots of music genres were hated/mediocre and massive at the same time, especially music from the last two decades.
