People were constantly talking about corporate products like phones, games, movies, TV shows and all during the 10s. I remember back in school i'd see people sort of policing how old someones phone can be to see if they should bully them for it as weird as that sounds lol. And these iphones that they're all buying every year cost a lot of money. The 2010s was materialistic as fuck.

That said, I think the late 2010s are very materialistic, and not even in a charming way the same way the 80s and 00s were. That was a time defined by The Emoji Movie, which is basically an hour and a half long commercial. Hypebeast culture was also a thing, with people obsessing over shitty brands like Supreme. And of course, the way stupid kids make fun of Android users. It’s obnoxious.

Like I said, I don’t think the early 2010s were that materialistic but the late 2010s are a different story. Just look at Jake and Logan Paul to see the late 2010s persona at its worst.

I'm glad those clowns are barely hanging onto relevance nowadays.

The late 2010s I think were even more materialistic than the mid 2000s, if that’s even possible. And at least the mid 2000s had a charm to it. Late 2010s was downright obnoxious. The Paul Brothers like I mentioned prior are the quintessential examples.

Mid 2000s were more gangsta style bling, Late 2010s were people just being dumbasses.

We need to find a name for the late 10s mcbling Instagram Influencers. Influencer culture in general is one of the big reasons I find the 2010s to be an incredibly narcisstic decade. It seemed like so many people would just hop on trends or otherwise fish for attention just to get more followers and likes.
