I disagree. 2013 was a big shift in pop culture for all these reasons
-Hashtags and emoji become popular
-Flat design becomes popular. Skeuomorphism dies off.
-Vine is launched
-Instagram blows up in popularity
-Facebook begins to decline in popularity
-YouTube changes their layout majorly
-PewDiePie becomes the biggest YouTuber, ending the old-school era of YouTube once and for all
-PS4 and Xbox One come out
-The Last of Us releases
-Netflix releases original series like Orange is the New Black and House of Cards. It begins to replace cable and physical media from this point forward.
-Spotify starts taking off, replacing iTunes
-Electropop is no longer the dominant music genre. The charts are more diverse from this point, until the rise of mumble rap in 2016
-Following the Edward Snowden incident, people become more worried about privacy. VPNs become popular as a result.
