They're becoming harder to find at local dumps/tips as well. I went to the Huskisson and Callala Bay tips a few months ago, but they didn't have any prerecorded VHS tapes at all.  A local tip in Dunmore hasn't had any tapes for a while, I haven't been there in 2 years so it's pretty much out of my list to look for tapes there.

@sydneycitytv My advice is go to Op shops that are run by councils not charity organisations (salvos/vinnies) or a local dump/tip where they would sometimes have store that sells goods.  Oh yes. Vinnies is a dead end! Both Salvos and Vinnies in my area don't sell VHS tapes at all. I asked the managers at both places and their pretty much the same answers, not very popular items, people don't use them anymore, and they wouldn't sell recorded tapes because they don't know what could be on them!

Dunmore is the closest dump/tip for me, so it's a shame that there haven't been any tapes for a while. Do you think the tip at Kembla Grange would have any? I haven't been to the Kembla Grange tip in years, but there's a good chance that it might have some.

I haven't been to the Kembla Grange tip in years, but there's a good chance that it might have some. I haven't been there before, so I might have to check it out someday.

It's just as big as the one at Dunmore, so there might be some tapes there.

It's about 3-3.5 hours from here, depending on the traffic. That’s too bad. Take into account for time and petrol, just getting there and then back again it will end up being more than $15. Rather silly that’s pickup only (I’d expect that on gumtree but most on eBay generally give the option of postage).

I had someone give me a pack of 4 a few weeks ago. Unopened. She found them during a clean up. Hadn't really thought of op shops. Late last year I did go into a local op shop with a mate who took some shirts in and while browsing, they were selling VHS movies (20cents each from memory) but yeah you'd hope they have checked them to make sure what's inside the cover is legit.

$5 a tape is a rip off. If anyone comes across any tapes in South Australia, please let me know. I'm too lazy to go looking through gumtree and e-bay
