This song was from 2009, but I always thought that it had a 1997-1998 vibe.

This song definitely has an early 2000's vibe IMO. I could definitely see it coming out in like 2002 or 2003.

I know that Sharks thinks it sounds just right for its time, but I think it doesn't sound like it's from late 2008, I think it looks and sounds like it's from 1998.

We have a thread based on songs that sound like they were released in the wrong era, but it doesn't matter. It's still interesting to talk about. Before:
Released in 1983, but it easily could have been released sometime in the Early-Mid '90s. A psychedelic song from 1960. For obvious reasons, it sounds like it could have been released in the Late '60s. Incredible to think that this was recorded in 1959! After:Was released in 2004, but looks/sounds like something from 1999 or 2000. Have a look at 0:56-1:04. It looks like something straight from the Y2K Era. This hair-metal song from 1994. I'm amazed that it managed to peak within the ARIA Top-10, despite the fact that hair-metal fell out of favour by that stage.

From April 2012, was in rotation on a radio station in Birmingham, Alabama in 2013-2014, beat from an instrumental that Vybe Beatz made in 2009 or 2010. ...

This song was from 2009, but I always thought that it had a 1997-1998 vibe. Yeah, I agree actually. It has a bit of a Eurodance vibe to it. Released: 2018 Sounds: 2015 It probably could have been released at any time between 2015-now, in my opinion.

Released: 1990 Sounds: 1986 I actually think it sounds of it's time, to be honest. In my opinion, I could definitely see it being released in 1988 or 1989, but probably not any earlier.

This is from January 1987, but in my opinion, it sounds more like something you'd hear from 1990. That's probably because of its new jack swing-ish beat, and it came out at a time when new jack swing wasn't yet a big thing.

This Ukranian song was from 1997, but it sounds like it's from 1989 in my opinion.
The songs on Russya's first album sounded before their time as well. They were released in 1989, but sound more 1985-86. Here is an example of one of the songs:
