I hear this song quite very often played and it's honestly one of the worst songs of the year so far along with that awful Cardi B and Bruno Mars duet. Far too overproduced (which is pretty much Lauv's shtick, but it just doesn't work with his brand of "relatable"-Chill Pop), tired subject no pun intended (seriously? Go see NeYo's school of actual great writing on "So Sick" first please) and unneeded and graceless repetitive chorus. It's interesting that you should say that, because I haven't heard it played at all and I listen to my local Top-40 station almost everyday of the week! In any case, I agree that it's way too overproduced. I'm not sure if I would personally consider it as being one of the worst songs of the year, although it's not a song that I particularly like.

Small little hit from Europe I needed to mention
Made me quite nostalgic despite being a fairly recent release. This blend of indie/folk and dance-pop is just so 2011-2013, early '10s pop was a house built by these very types of songs.

I heard this while driving earlier tonight and its giving me some serious 2000s vibes. I've just finished listening to it and I would definitely have to agree, especially with that guitar intro! It's sort of a strange song in a way, because the drumming and the guitar chords make it sound like it is reminiscent of the 2000s, but the synths/snares and YungBlud's vocals really tie the song in with the 2010s. Overall, it's not too bad. Music definitely is moving in more of a guitar/acoustic-based direction, IMO.

Well Shallow just reached #1 in the US and that new Jonas Brothers track is killing Spotify as well, maybe things might shift towards the acoustic after all like SharksFan99 claims but we'll see.

Yep. I know I sound like a broken record by saying this, but there's been evidence of it for the past 6-12 months. New pop releases have began to incorporate acoustic guitar chords rather than Trap snares (e.g "I'm So Tired", "3 Nights"), more pop-rock songs have entered into the mainstream ("Natural", "Shallow") and Greta Van Fleet are one of the biggest new prospects in rock. I'm just surprised that more people haven't picked up on this trend. Just out of curiosity, have you listened to "11 Minutes" (the song that was shared a few posts above) yet? What is your opinion of it?

I'm not too sure how it is performing elsewhere, but here in Australia at least, it's at #23 on the ARIA Chart and just outside the Top-10 on the iTunes Chart. I hope it becomes more successful overseas, as it's generally quite a decent song (by 2019 standards anyway). I wasn't actually aware of this beforehand, but apparently the drummer in the song is Travis Barker from Blink-182.

that song stole the lick from Puddle of Mudd Pretty ironic that elements of Puddle of Mudd's music are now starting to be sampled in songs, especially considering the fact that they themselves were heavily ridiculed for their heavy reliance on other artists/bands (e.g being a "poor man's" Nirvana ).

This British alternative-rock band is currently experiencing success on the US and Australian iTunes Charts with their new acoustic single, "Got It In You". It's at #22 in Australia and #27 in the United States.

Now all we need is for someone like Fall Out Boy or The Black-Eyed Peas to have another huge Top-10 hit.
