I really think something lo-fi related is just going to up and explode in the next year or two. Whether that's bedroom pop, lo-fi hip hop, or something else entirely, I can't be sure. But I'm sensing a Nevermind moment on the horizon, something that may not define the entire decade but which will set the whole tone for years thereafter. Would you also say it's possible for UK Drill Beat to become more popular in the US and Canada? I mean, Drake's song called "War" has UK drill beat influences as well as "GATTI". It wouldn't surprise me if UK Drill becomes more popular in North America too. I am not sure. His UK Drill song is the only Stateside one I have heard of. Bedroom pop has steadily gained popularity across several artists since 2016 or so, and lo-fi hip hop already boasts hundreds of albums.

My Chemical Romance posted this teaser video just over five hours ago. Looks like they might be releasing new music!

SharksFan99 , would you consider Billie Eilish's style a modern iteration of a grunge style? Not her music, which is pop, but her fashion style, which I see as an imitation of Kurt Cobain. Sorry it has taken me a few days to answer your question, I must have got sidetracked and then completely forgot about it. I decided to post it here (rather than the "emo comeback" thread) because I want to go more in-depth about this. I can definitely spot a few similarities between her choice of style and that of Kurt Cobain's, but I don't think Billie Eilish herself was inspired by, or ever intended to replicate, the aesthetics associated with grunge. She mentioned in an interview a few months ago about how she wears loose-fitting clothing to prevent people from body shaming her. There was also another interview with her I can remember seeing on the Wikipedia page which explained that she simply does it to get people's attention. It's hard to say though. She could just be saying those things to detract any comparisons between her and Kurt. Tbh, those things are part of the reasons as to why I don't like Billie Eilish. I just see her as being a huge try-hard and I get this feeling that she's going to look back on her career in another ten-years time and be completely embarrassed by it. Her whole "i'm so deep" persona really rubs me the wrong way.

The first major release of the decade was this... This is incredibly mediocre. Honestly not much better what he did now a decade ago with "Baby" and stuff. Agreed ten years since “Baby” and it’s basically the same thing. I would file this under “songs intended to be used in social media videos”. I really can’t listen to it in more than twenty second intervals.

Looks like Selena Gomez came out the more stable genius from that breakup I’m digging the aesthetic. It’s almost kitschy but never goes to joke territory. Y2k revival done right.

It's okay. Probably the best thing that's within the Top-10 right now, though that's not saying much. I can't even begin to describe how sick to death I am of "Dance Monkey". It has spent 24 weeks at #1 here in Australia. Ridiculous.

"Yummy" is a total jam. I find "Rare" (the song) to be extremely dull. There a plenty more songs on her album that I enjoy.

This new Green Day song really doesn't impress me. The comment in the video about the song sounding like something from a FIFA soundtrack is completely spot on.

According to my mom, she said 2020 is an interesting year. It is the only year in the next 101 years that will have a pair of repeating digits that follow the same digit. For example, 1919 and then 2121. On February 2, she said it was a special day as that was a palindrome date with only two different digits used. 02/02/2020. She said that is super rare as the next palindrome date will only be on 12/12/2121, which is nearly 122 full years later. The last one I believe was 12/21/1221. 09/21/1290 I believe was the last in total making 12/02/2021 will be another next year. 11/02/2011 was one of the most recent. I never really gave it thought. However, 11/11/1111 is a once in a lifetime thing that cannot be repeated this millennium, since a year doesnt have more than 12 months. However 12/22/2221 could happen, but it wont be the same. Never really gave it thought.

I actually really like it, tbh, it's a refreshing sound coming from them. I'm glad that Green Day are going for a different approach with this new album.

By that logic we'll see a palindrome date next year and the year after too. 12/02/2021 22/02/2022 Edit: oh ok I get it. Any format that isn't the dd/mm/yyyy format is a stupid format anyway.
