By that logic we'll see a palindrome date next year and the year after too. 12/02/2021 22/02/2022 Edit: oh ok I get it. Any format that isn't the dd/mm/yyyy format is a stupid format anyway. I think the dd/mm/yyyy format is stupid honestly. I don't see why 2/22/21 is stupid and 22/2/21. The latter looks so awkward and strange to me. Why is it awkward? Because a bigger number comes first? The mm/dd system also does it with the later months. Rearranging dates to be days<months<years sounds far more coherent and logical anyway.

Are getting another disco revival? I'd say we've been in a disco revival of sorts since 2013. It's had it's highs and lows but has been with us through most of this past decade.

Yeah, but if we were to switch to the dd/mm/yyyy format people may be confused a bit because honestly, most people in the US don't see 8/7/2020 as July 8, 2020, they see it as August 7, 2020, and vice versa in the UK. Nothing should change with that. It should be mm/dd/yyyy in North America and dd/mm/yyyy in the UK and Australia.

It will be interesting to see how the music world responds to the coronavirus pandemic. I wouldn't be surprised if the charts become more stagnant as the pandemic gets worse. Obviously the music industry isn't going to come to a grinding halt even with people needing to self-quarantine in their own homes, however I doubt we will see much in the way of new developments emerging during this time. We're living in a very tumultuous time, the Top-40 charts aren't going to be something that are at the front and centre of people's minds.

Tones and I released a new single a couple of days ago titled "Bad Child". I didn't think it would be possible, but she's released a song which is even worse than "Dance Monkey" and "Never Seen The Rain". It's already a contender for being one of the worst songs of 2020. I can't take to her singing style, it's awful. ARIA are predicting that this will debut within the Top-50 this weekend.
In other news, Tame Impala's "The Less I Know the Better" could potentially make it's debut within the ARIA Top-50 this weekend. It would be interesting if it does, as the song itself was released 5 years ago and has already made it onto the charts, when it peaked at #66 back in Late 2015. I'm guessing that their new album has renewed interest in the band. I've heard "Borderline" on i98fm a number of times over the past month or so.

I think a Disco revival goes hand in hand with songs trying to be tiktok friendly. “Blinding Lights” has me on the lookout for more of a New Wave revival. There’s a very specific type of 80’s that I’m generally seeing creep back. I can post some trendy interior design photos showing what I mean if anyone is interested.

A lot of "80s revival" stuff end up feeling really flat to me since producers usually fail to integrate the retro synths in any meaningful way and end up as a background prop with a modern/EDM sheen over it more than anything in contrast to actual stuff from the 1980s.
I wish we had more recreations of this type of stuff:
Rather than what we usually get:
In my opinion a lot of people seem to fail to realize how much 1980s music grew out from 1970s' genres, and when you take away the context you end up with something bland and meaningless.

The Weeknd just delivered the best album of the year, and Dua is moving up to this Friday.

You know 2020 is a terrible year for music when Hot Girl Bummer, the worst song of all time imo, is #11 on Billboard and will likely hit the top 10 next week. Congrats America, your music taste is disgusting!

Congrats America, your music taste is disgusting! More shocking to me is that the guy who sings it is turning 30 this year. From the voice and the song in general, I really thought he was some teenage rando from SoundCloud.

It's okay. Strange cover though, covering a Tiffany song of all things.

covering a Tiffany song of all things. Which was already a cover Yep, that's true. Being a punk, i'm sure Billie Joe would much rather say that he chose to cover a Tommy James song and not a Tiffany one.
