“Drivers License” is blowing up like crazy and it’s basically the same slow pop songs we’ve been getting since like the mid-late 2010’s. There are some songs from 2016/2017 that I think would actually sound dated had they been released today, but I really don’t believe that we’re disconnected from the cultural late 2010’s at all, especially 2019. Pop culture is moving at a way slower pace now thanks to music streaming, and that trend shows no signs of stopping. IMO there was more change between 2007-2010 than there was between 2017-2020. Yeah I never cared for Drivers License because of that reason. It sounds like the same indie inspired music Alessia Cara was releasing in 2016-17. Nothing innovative. And Drakes new hit song What’s Next sounds like something from his 2018 album Scorpion. Music is in a weird place right now with some new sounding songs and some that would fit in the late 2010s

The LoFi sound in R&B & rap released today sounds reminiscent of the late 2010s. LoFi & Vaporwave r still huge. Late 2010s shows r still big. Why hasn’t Drake fallen out of popularity yet. I thought he was done in 2018. I’ll admit some music released in 2020/2021 sounds new. Like others have mentioned, we’re in a transition. Speaking of Drake, holy SHIT. He has over 3 hit singles and they're all in the top 3.  I know Drake's been major for a decade now, but still, 3 singles in the top 3? And his latest EP does sound like it could be in the late 2010s. The music scene really is stagnant right now.

Is vaporwave actually “huge?” I know a lot of popular artists borrowed from the aesthetic during the Trump years, but the music itself - as far as I can tell - is still pretty underground. Hell, it took until fall 2019 for a vaporwave music festival to happen. Almost ten years from the birth of the genre before anyone tried taking it live.

Maybe saying vaporware is "huge" is a stretch, but college & university students still listen 2 Vapaorwave & talk about it. I'm unsure about middle & high school students. I'm sure Vaporwave has been around since @ least 2009 or 2010. Crazy how it took until fall 2019 2 have a vaporwave music festival happen. I wonder if the EDM boom in the mid 2010s was inspired by Vaporware.

Yeah to be precise, the first “proto-vaporwave” song was released by Daniel Lopatin in July 2009. The first album widely considered to be vaporwave came out in December 2011.
