It has been almost a week now since the restrictions were imposed, so as a result, I thought it would be worthwhile to create a poll to see how everyone feels about the decision. The restrictions have so far been a success. Not only have we seen a spike in new registrations and a day-by-day increase in the number of posts made, but most importantly, LyricBoy has not been able to 'steal' topics made on the forum and both of his attempts to register an account on Popedia were rejected. It has been the right decision to make in that regard. However, there are both positives and negatives to keeping the forum restricted to just members-only, which is why I would be interested to hear everyone's opinions on whether we should continue to keep the forum like this going forward. I personally believe we should continue the restrictions for at least the next week, but after that, no decision has been made as yet. I feel like we're gonna have to restrict it for at least a month (if that isn't too long). I'm not sure if two weeks is enough to get LyricBoy to stop copying threads. Besides, I think restricting the forum has made this site a lot more active. It feels a lot more "tighter" here now than it did before. I kinda like it this way.

Wow, I just read the responses from the mods on that site. That's just awful. CatWoman even had the audacity to defend it by saying "Free Speech". Like what?

The fact that the people who run inthe00s won't do anything to stop LB is also as frighting, they know it's an issue but they refuse to do anything despite many attempts showing this is a huge problem Yep. They're clearly showing favouritism, and it seems like nothing is going to convince them to change their opinions on the matter. Man, that was a pretty shitty response. I went into this thing being neutral on the whole Inthe00s/Popedia situation, but I'm honestly taken aback by how they're defending such obviously malicious behavior. Oh, I can't even begin to tell you how frustrating it was. That was actually the first thing I read on my phone when I woke up this morning, I couldn't get over it. There's a lot more that I could have said in my response to the two of them, but I thought it was best to hold myself back (it wasn't easy though).
I didn't want to drag Popedia into the mess that is happening in the copycat thread over on inthe00s, but I don't want to keep information about the situation from anyone. To anyone who's interested, these are the two responses I received from the mods over on inthe00s: This was my response:

Perhaps you could go back and forth and restrict access at specific times only? Maybe weekdays can be members only, and weekends can include guests, or vice versa.

It is just not a good look and not what is best for business. Like Loose set, I am super taken aback at the lack of responsibility. LB says oh " I can post anything there is no intent" and yet he posted a fake thread I made as bait, so that just proves it he was doing it to hurt the forum lmao Lyricboy can not talk his way out of this, what he did was wrong plain and simple.

Besides, I think restricting the forum has made this site a lot more active. It feels a lot more "tighter" here now than it did before. I kinda like it this way. I agree, I think two weeks isn't going to be long enough unfortunately. I'm a bit unsure though about keeping the forum completely off-limits for guests/lurkers indefinitely, tbh. I do agree that keeping registrations restricted is probably the best thing to do going forward (since we can approve who joins our forum), but when it comes to actually restricting all non-members from even being able to see the forum, I think keeping it restricted might actually hurt Popedia in the long-run. The people who have signed up over the past few days are most likely people who had been lurking Popedia for quite a while and were already familiar enough with the forum (without needing to see it) to know that it was safe to register. If I was a new visitor to a closed-forum, i'm not sure if I would want to sign-up if I had to no way of knowing what the forum itself is like. That's my only concern. Perhaps you could go back and forth and restrict access at specific times only? Maybe weekdays can be members only, and weekends can include guests, or vice versa. That's a good idea, although the only thing I'm a bit worried about is that LyricBoy could soon catch on to it and starting visiting the forum during the times when it is available to access for guests. I was talking to @loosebolt about this on the previous page actually, but another alternative I can think of would be to make the forum accessible for everyone to see, however all of the links on the homepage would be hidden unless you are logged-in to an account. All of the sub-boards and categories (e.g The Decade Den, Popedia Lounge) would still be listed on the homepage as they are normally, but guests/lurkers wouldn't have access to the threads themselves.

Yeah I don't think we should keep restricting it forever, since I'd still want people to be able to get a look and feel at the forum before signing up. I think the idea that Loosebolt had is a good idea. Would it be possible to implement it?

I think the idea that Loosebolt had is a good idea. Would it be possible to implement it? Yep. Proboards gives you the option of setting the forum as "guests must log in", which makes the forum inaccessible to anyone who doesn't have an account. You can continue to restrict registrations without having the "guests must log in" feature switched on though.

I’ll put in my 10c. I was unaware of the specifics of this issue, but the above posts made me really understand why the forum has gone to ‘members only’ participation. Wow. In addition to solving this original issue, the activity and the amount of members logging into the forum seems to have increased as a result. This is certainly a positive. I believe that keeping it members only is the most suitable option for now. Whether it will be feasible later on remains to be seen, but I’m sure that will be monitored and considered.

now Lyric Boy is saying its all over the net since 2017 ( the fake story) so if its all over the net why now post it? If its an old story why post it hours after I post it ? I posted the FAKE story to see if LyricBoy would blindly steal it and post it, which he did, now he is saying its an old story, so if its an old story why post it in 2020 out of nowhere ? He is still not taking responsibility for his actions. Lyric boy was banned because he was stealing threads, what doesn't he understand ?
Notice how since he has been banned that you haven't been seeing the same threads on inthe00s ? Funny how since he was banned the threads here stop showing up on inthe00s lmao There is a reason for it because he can't get in here to steal it. He has been caught trying to break in atleast 2 times here, he is trying to get in to steal more content. Lyric boy will never be welcomed to this site ever,I am not an admin but I think I speak for everyone when I say that ban is for life.

What I find weird is what is his motive to do this? Like what is he actually getting out of it? makes you wonder.
