POP PUNK 2021 TAKE OVER
Alright so I am making a thread for this due to demand. Pop punk was originally suppose to blow up again in late 2018/early 2019 but was delayed. The Corona Virus caused problems releasing albums and songs as well. But now............. I can confirm to you Pop Punk will be the NEW wave going forward. Having a lot of friends in the music industry I can tell you 100% this is the direction most wanted to go but were afraid to. The Corona Virus + The new energy of the Biden in the office is def putting a kick to the energy to take chances and make RISKS. I have heard some wild stuff for 2021. Also................... you are going to see Billy Ellish clones left and right... you heard it here first as the Popedia moniker says.
PALE WAVES Change ( Sounds like 2002 Avril)
MGK Forget you ( sounds like 2006 early Paramore )
Maggie Lid Knife Under my Pillow ( sounds like Liz Phair and Ashlee Simpson)

Do you think bedroom pop might take over 2021 as well?

Do you think bedroom pop might take over 2021 as well? it had a mild brief take over already but it's not really making a huge dent. So prob not.

I want this to happen even if I’m not into the style, the music industry needs a drastic makeover asap, rock needs to have a more of a mainstream presence so it can stay alive and evolve. It really hasn’t in the last few years.
I don’t think we realize it but this entire year has been the stalest period since the 1970s.

You are going to start seeing more pop artists transition to more pop rock melody. The 2010s were so damn sTALE !

It will be interesting if Pop Punk makes a comeback to the mainstream. I would not mind to be honest, pop culture needs a big makeover next year.

It may be popular, but I don't think it'll take over trap/hip-hop as the next big thing next year. Hip-hop's just way too culturally and racially diverse for the entire genre to rebound in the mainstream.

I agree, It is very unrealistic for hip hop haters to think that such a popular, diverse and cultural genre will just disappear in like one year when artists like DaBaby, who only became mainstream last year, has topped the charts with his own album and with features throughout 2020. Trap/Hip Hop is not a dying genre at all, and it's probably the most convoluted popular opinion on this board.

I'm not sold on a pop punk revival taking the nation by storm. Could it happen? Maybe, but it's really too early to tell and nostalgia revival genres have a habit of failing more often than being successful and music revolutions generally come out of nowhere. I remember when everyone thought Kendrick Lamar's 2017 album DAMN. represented the end of mumble trap and the beginning of the next era of hip-hop. At this point, I think it's safe to say that album didn't have much of an impact in the overall evolution of hip-hop in the late '10s, though was great on it's own.

If we're bringing back 2000s rock, I'd love to also bring back 2000s hip-hop.

Gods, I hope not. Nothing against pop rock or pop punk, but rehashes are the worst.
