I want to see stuff like sunny day real estate, samiam and knapsack come back circa 1994-96/97 come back, feel like theres been missing gap of rock for so long, would be cool to reclaim something a bit closer to the original emo like the below from 95, fits the times as well. This is also applies to pop punk. As much as I would love it, I think that’s a longshot. Midwest emo is really popular on YouTube, but it has utterly failed to expand beyond that fan base. mid 90s emo and pop punk, even earlier stuff, is about about crafting really good music you don't forget in 20 years from now, it has the grunge approach to music, and does not have such limited, cringe factors or amateur quality in many cases that mid 2000s emo has imo. I think real mid 90s pop punk and emo, has the flexibility to come back if not now maybe in the future, when playing authentic rock music enters the pop world or the more mainstream music industry, because amazingly good catchy riffs and the flexibility and neutrality of the style, surpasses eras and pop culture restrictions and has the potential to become lucrative again just based on alt rock approach to crafting the out of the world good music as the main focus compared to anything else. Even the early 2000s had really good bands with the whole post punk revival and evolving alt rock, placebo, HIM, the darkness, the hives, the vines the strokes, the killers,. It wasn't that long ago, I don't see why a real 90s emo and pop punk revival couldn't take place in a similar fashion. I don't think they have been brought back in a mainstream way, like grunge, so there is room. emo of the 2000s if not applied through something like rap, or some kind of bizarre metal or weird post hipster micro genre, won't age well imo because of being tied to the context of mid 2000s world, outcast mall culture and myspace context, and sometimes more amateur or limited approach to music ( a lot of bands were young or figuring it out etc), cliche teen whineyiness associated with the genre, and fashion and aesthetic that is still corny to many people. I think of it kind of like hair metal from the 80s ex motley crue type bands, its more restricted to a period of time. Then again you never know what can happen.

I would not mind if Pop Punk making somewhat of a comeback. If we have artists like Miley, Dua,The Weeknd making 80s inspired music, then why not have Pop Punk mid 90s-early 00s style make a comeback to the mainstream? Things recycled from time to time.

You make a good point here. I liked a lot of the emo stuff that came out during the mid 2000s but you are right that not much of it is memorable compared to the pop punk of the 1995-2001 era. I still think a pop punk comeback in our current musical landscape and overall zeitgeist just isn't going to happen. That's not to say it never could but that style of music just doesn't vibe with today's times IMO. Who knows what could happen in five years though?

The emo scene of the mid-late 2000s is generally well regarded and considered memorable by people around my age, those of us who were born in the late '90s. We grew up with it as kids. For a lot of us, it was our introduction to rock music. It also speaks volumes that many of today's SoundCloud mumble-rappers incorporate elements of it into their music.

Even using emo as an example, I was the biggest critic of it for a long time, I hated it when I was younger due to the stigma that surrounded the whole "emo kid" label. In fact, it was only around early last year that I started to appreciate it.

I’m not sure I would consider Beach Bunny to be pop punk. This just sounds like cheating to make a point.

You can link the video all you want, it's not happening. There are two pop punk songs on the Top 100 - two, and this is after fully 4 years of you predicting the triumphant return of pop punk. Sorry JT.
