I think peak mid 2010s was 2014-15 and peak 2010s overall was 2015-16 Peak late 2010s could be either 2017-18 or 2018-19 but I normally go with the former

I agree with 2017-2018 as the quintessential late 2010s year for a myriad of reasons. For starters, it was the only school year to entirely exist post-Vine, and pre-TikTok. Secondly, it was EXTREMELY tumultuous. Las Vegas shooting, MeToo, Parkland shooting. The Paul Brothers were big in that year, often for all the wrong reasons (2018 literally started with the Logan Paul suicide forest controversy). And just other things like Fortnite being HUGE, as well as battle royale games in general, the Nintendo Switch being THE must-have item, and of course, tide pods.

The DSi is thusly a perfect representation of how 2009-2010 was culturally, not quite fitting into the zeitgeist of either the 2000s or 2010s.

And by the way, even though Angry Birds was a big part of it, it was NOT the only mobile game to be big in the early 2010s or especially the 2011-2012 school year. It's also games like Fruit Ninja, Plants vs Zombies, Jetpack Joyride, Cut the Rope, and so many others.
