I'd say 2011 is the biggest shift in that department though. Also didn't angry birds take off in 2011 when iphones started being everywhere? I remember it was already big in 2010, 2011 was the peak in popularity though. And by the way, even though Angry Birds was a big part of it, it was NOT the only mobile game to be big in the early 2010s or especially the 2011-2012 school year. It's also games like Fruit Ninja, Plants vs Zombies, Jetpack Joyride, Cut the Rope, and so many others. Really forgetting Doodlejump and Temple Run. I think 2012-2013 was the last classic age of mobile gaming with Subway Surfers and Candy Crush.

I don't know man, 2010 was already hella early 2010s to me. When I think late 2000s, I think of rock on the radio, rhythm games, MySpace, pre-HD YouTube, and pre-CalArts cartoons, all of which were no longer popular in 2010. Instead, it was very much a year of electropop, YouTube videos becoming more professional, Facebook, Angry Birds, Adventure Time. I still agree that 2011-2012 was peak early 2010s though. >Pre smartphone dominance >Pre Osama Bin Laden death >Pre Gaddafi death >Pre Occupy Wall Street >Pre Arab Spring >Pre Windows 7 overtaking XP >Pre Google Chrome taking off >Electropop still sounded undeveloped and not all sharp and synthy like EDM >Minecraft and Skyrim hadn't came out >Pokemon Gen 5 hadn't came out >First full year of the 7th gen motion era with Xbox Kinect and PS move. Technically they released in November 2010 but you could also argue pretty much no one had it in the last month or two of 2010 You could also argue 2011 was when HD became the norm. If you look at music videos from 2010 most of them are SD besides a few like Kesha's "Take it off", then in 2011 most of them are in HD. I remember HD videos on youtube becoming much more common around this time. I think meme culture also really started to take off around 2011. 2008- 2009 school year
Obama won and is President > HD now the norm > Electropop now defacto standard Lady Gaga & Katy Perry are house hold names Recession in full effect Nick rebrand Hipster rising while scene declines
It was already feeling Early 2010s before 2010 even hit

People are forgetting a thing called ipod touch was big in 2008 and 2009, in 2010 Angry Birds was available to a huge load of consumers due to having an ipod touch, android or iphone

This was also the school year that McBling died off.

It was already feeling Early 2010s before 2010 even hit Didn't Nick rebrand around September 2009? Then, that's more like the 2009-2010 school year. I feel like scene and hipster mixed around 2009, don't know what the fusion can be called.
