The moment many of you have been waiting for.. The Fall 2021 - Summer 2022 Pop Culture Climate forecast. For those of you who don't know my track record, I worked with E! NEWS for many years on their trend reports. For those who follow me (without blowing smoke up my as*) will know my accuracy with my reports. It is is literally the school year EVERYONE & their dog are snickering about.. Fall 2021- 2022. I wanted to wait to post this but with the Pandemic settling down in the United States it's clear where things are headed for the most part. This school year is most likely going to feel very 2000s (to those who were there like myself as it happened LIVE ) Things seem to be getting lighter in a good way...Without further adieu..............
There will be a booster shot in the fall as well to help fight off the Virus. Things will be coming back in extremes, expect the mall, music festivals, clubs to be PACKED to the GILLS. I also imagine there will be "nostalgia club" parties popping up for that same reason. Movie theaters will also be back as well, hell several movies are ONLY going to be seen in the theater. We will be seeing the return of Toby Maguire as Spider -Man this December as well as a host of Blockbusters such as James Bond and Venom 2. ohhhh and a NEW Legally Blonde movie. This movie season will be STACKED ! For video games, Switch will still be selling gangbusters, The Switch upgraded version will be coming out soon with with a OLED screen ! Ps5 sadly will still have shortages................ Microsoft is rumored to be putting game pass to Switch so that would cause a major BLOW Sony if that occurs in the 2021 - 2022 year.
There is not much to be said about music for this school year coming up. We have already seen MGK rule the charts last year with pop punk. Now we are seeing artists like Willow Smith and 1# Spotify streaming artist right now Olivia jump on the Pop punk band wagon. Pop Punk is also starting to be used in commercials and movies now. Expect more pop artists to cross over to POP PUNK as early as Fall 2021. Avril Lavigne's new pop punk album with MGK should be out by the fall as well. Trap will be dead before November hits. It had been on life support for several months now. I feel that lyrical content will shift towards heavy emphasis on mental health. Hyperpop's sound will still be around but will lose traction quickly. However...... Hyperpop will still be there it's just most stuff like EDM will start incorporating it's sounds. Usually good times bring depressed songs and bad times bring happy songs that's the theory. During Bush years and post gfc we had happy and party songs and last 4-5 years when economy is doing well and no conflicts going on we had depressing nu male hiphop etc... So I think an upward trend is due.. we might get ... we might get something LIGHT coming.
The 2000s cutout trend continues as well as the newly formed cloud coat trend. Layering will be VERY big come 2021-2022 season. Bubblegum pink a new standard will be here as well. Loose ties will be big next season as well. There were tons of loose, baggy trousers on the spring runways and expect 2021 and 2022 season to be no different. Early 2000s Clogs have been back for a few months now, expect 2021 to 2022 to be no different. Remember Trucker hats ? Despite a failed revival attempt by asap rocky, you will be seeing these everywhere in 2022. Velour is also back in full force....Oh don't you just LOVE the mid 2000s ! Low Rise Jeans oh yes those have been back for a few months now and WILL BE BACK IN FULL FORCE IN 2022 despite backlash !
So what is bubbling underneath the surface ? We all know E-BOY & E-Girl is Emo reincarnated so whats next ? Based on what I have been seeing brewing in LA over the course of the last few months. This is more of a wild card forecast but...... I will let the images below tell you what old trend is coming next.........

I can sense the 2000s nostalgia and vibe kicking in fast, but with a unique 2020s twist. I have a feeling by late 2021, we will be in early 2020s culture. 2021-2022 will be the first season of the 2020s, early 2020s and classic 2020s. 2022 will likely mirror 2002 in that they will be quintessential years for the early parts of their respective decades. We probably will not enter the core 2020s until 2023 or 2024. 2022 might have minor late 2010s influences which might be dead by 2023 or 2024. I bet the 2021-2022 school year will be an upgrade from this past school year, 2020-2021 which felt long in the tooth and dragged out because everyone is waiting for the COVID situation to improve. I’m glad this past school year is almost or just about done. I’m looking forward to the 2021-2022 school year. I cannot believe it will be a decade since 8th grade for me, 2011-2012 school year. These trends seem exciting. Bring it on! By the way it would be interesting to see a 20 year comparison atmosphere of the 2001-2002 and 2021-2022 school years. Yeah it's already here, by late 2021 October time frame EVERYONE on this board will have a clear idea where things are going. Yeah it is VERY exciting to think about isn't it ? I was waiting to drop my bomb of a prediction about Scene culture coming back, but I am seeing it in LA. I think we might quantum leap to the late 2000s nostalgia by summer 2022 and into 2023. It is looking like the mid 2020s are going to be a mix of mid 2000s and late 2000s nostalgia combined. Mind you mid 2000s nostalgia is already here in 2021 so I predict that Scene is going to start to take over at some point. You heard it here first !!

Yes the fourth quarter of 2021 will have a clear 2020 vision of where culture is heading or is headed. It will be better than most of 2021 although 2021 is better than 2020 imo. By Q4 2021, early 2020s culture will be close to peaking. 2021 might be another one of those reboot years where the early and late part are two different worlds, like 2001, 2004, etc. March-December 2021 has the same calendar as 2004. You are right. It is very exciting to think about. Wow summer 2022 having the earliest late 2000s nostalgia is crazy. I am sure that will take off in 2023 or 2024. I have kind of noticed mid 2000s nostalgia creeping in since late 2019 to 2020 with Usher dropping music. He was supposed to release Confessions 2 album in 2020, but I do not think he did. I will not be surprised if mid 2000s nostalgia creeps more in music, fashion, TV, movies, games, pop culture. I wonder if crunk will see a resurgence in 2023 with a rapper using 50 cent as influence. I think honestly late 2021 is going to have that 2001 effect where the start feels SO different from the end of the year. The Pandemic getting better is a HUGE factor in this as well. Crunk., who knows it might, Lil John just got a gig as a host for a HGTV show. As for the late 2000s yeah it's going to be so weird seeing it lol But I can promise you by 2022 you will see it lol Just like in 2018 when I said pop punk is coming back but its going to take 2 1/2 years, right now Scene is doing the same thing. I been knowing for awhile now but I just never posted about it because it's "2 out there"

I been knowing for awhile now but I just never posted about it because it's "2 out there" I am with you on all that. Thank goodness the pandemic is getting better. January-February 2021 was horrendous for the pandemic, arguably still was at its peak . I can see November-December 2021 being the opposite of that. The pandemic started to improve around March 2021 thanks to the success of the vaccines. Now the pandemic is falling from peak. If things continue to get better in this rate, then the pandemic will be history by 2023. Yeah it will be weird seeing late 2000s creep in 2022. 😂 2007, arguably the first full late 2000s year culturally and definitely the first full late 2000s year numerically, will be turning 15 years old in 2022. 😮 Scene is probably brewing underground right now like pop punk was in 2018. Scene will most likely explode sometime in 2023 or 2024 after gaining momentum underground in 2021 and 2022. This is early, but I predict that we will be transitioning to mid 2020s culture or in mid 2020s culture when that happens. By 2023, I predict we will be in the core 2020s and completely removed from the 2010s. I guess mid 2020s will begin in the second half of 2023 or 2024. Oh wow I did not know that Lil John got a gig as host for a HGTV show. Talk about 2000s throwback nostalgia. I hope skeuomorphism and boldness grows more during the 2021-2022 season and throughout the 2020s as a backlash against 2010s flat minimalistic aesthetic.

What an interesting forecast! 2021-2022 school year is when the early 2020s will be in full effect. 2021 already feels more 2020s than 2010s thanks to Biden, PS5 being out (although on a shortage), certain music and certain fashion. I think the PS5 shortage and COVID 19 might continue through 2022. By 2023, we’ll be out of COVID 19 and the PS5 shortage. 2022 will feel more 2020s and it will be peak early 2020s. We might still have minor late 2010s influences hanging on in 2022, but they will be obsolete by 2023 when the core 2020s and possibly the mid 2020s kick in. 2000s nostalgia is blowing up now in 2021, but it will be full blown in 2023.

Covid is pretty much over on the east coast, New Jersey lifted pretty much everything due to Covid number being record number lows. All there is left is the booster shot. This Summer we are in right now is the final part of the transition to the early 2020s. Fully covid won't be gone until 2022 but it's safe to say it's a wrap. We got our summer back.

I’m calling it now: the second half of 2021 > the first half of 2021 or fall 2021 > winter 2020/2021 through summer 2021. I co sign this, this is 100% what is likely to be the vibe
