The late 90s were kinda colorful though. “Kinda”? More like VERY colorful. Just look at video games of that era, the iMac, music videos. And 1990-1991 has Memphis tesselation aesthetics. It’s really 1992-1995 that was truly muted and brown/beige looking.

I think it’s because the 2000s were sort of elusive like the 2010s. It had to many colors going on in different aesthetics that were going on at the same time. The scene aesthetic colors of the late 2000s aren’t the same as the more silver metallic colors used in early-mid 2000s hip hop
