Take these with a grain of salt but I think that 2022 will be a very eventful and explosive year. I don't know, I just have a feeling that so much things are gonna happen in 2022 whether exciting and devastating. At this point, society has to accept that covid-19 will stay around like the flu, so 2022 will be probably a post-covid society.
I also think 2022 will start to have a major disconnect with the late 2010s; we don't know what things 2022 has in store but we will see. Right now many artists and festivals are starting to set up tickets for their shows next year in 2022. The bright late 90s/y2k stuff that is popular right now will maybe peak next year and we'll start to see way less skinny jeans.

Yeah I kinda feel that way too. Idk what gonna happen next year but I feel like we will be comfortably in the early 20s by the summer. I do agree that it will be mostly distinguishable from the late 10s too. Just like how 2012 was already different from 2008/09, I have the same feeling for 2022. And I definitely see this gen z fashion and tiktok becoming the standard by the end of next year

Its almost impossible to predict anything. I'd guess you'd start to see changes after this winter 2022 only because that very close by, unless there is a new breakthrough, massive event or big shift in something particular its unlikely you will see a drastic radical breakthrough in a few months which is early 2022 tbh.

When people decades from now talk about the 2020s, they won't be talking about music or entertainment. In fact I don't see life as we all knew it coming back for a long time and it will look very different when it does. We are already well into 2020s culture. 2022 will continue to be defined by COVID, right-wing populism, the economic depression, and the continuing rising threat of civil war in the USA. The Republicans will take over congress in the fall of 2022 which will set the stage for Donald Trump to stage a coup in 2024 (which I believe he will be successful at).
I'm now calling this the "New Antebellum" era. This has potential to be the defining decade for the 21st century and the world will be reshaped significantly before the decade is over.

It feels wrong to match 2019 with 2020 let alone with 2021 or beyond

2022 might either be an extension of 2019-2021 or a major shift into a new era. It feels wrong to match 2019 with 2020 let alone with 2021 or beyond I agree. This board though heavily leans on pop music to define cultural eras and the current era of pop music did begin in 2019. That said, I think today's music will be mostly forgotten in the years ahead. Remake and throwback-focused eras typically are. As I've said though, when people in decades ahead talk about "the twenties", I don't think music will be one of the first topics of discussion.

I don’t really see 2022 being a eventful year, tbh. I think it will be nearly identical to 2021 with much looser COVID restrictions. I actually think 2024 will be the next eventful year if anything.

Late 2021 is already setting the stage for what's coming in 2022. We've already had the explosion of change, it started in 2020, but most people don't realize it yet... And the change isn't good in my opinion, things feel dystopian and apocolyptic. The entire fabric of the world changed from Corona.
There will be a "new normal" for those who are vaccinated. Meaning you can get back to everything normal pre-pandemic but you just have to reveal your personal medical information to private businesses before conducting your business there. And this is everywhere, public places, transport, restaurants, arenas, jobs, etc.
As for the unvaccinated, we will be banned from all those things and there will be no normal for us, just extreme hardships being in this new society. It will literally be a 2 class system. This has started already where I live, and will be all over the world eventually.
Is this the change you are referring to?

By the way I'm only speaking on this because I am living it right now. This morning I was banned from entering into a coffee shop (With my mask on) since I was unvaccinated. Even if I just wanted takeout. I was made to wait outside but they were about to refuse service to me.

I think 2022 may have worse music. Even though popular music was not unique in 2020 and 2021, it was still good. I like the throwback vibe it had. Who knows what we'll see in 2022 but it will probably be worse and not as upbeat. Or 2022 may be the last year we have upbeat hits and then 2023 music will be slow and bad again like it was in 2018.

2022 and maybe 2023 might not feel different from this year but I can tell that 2024 will be a turbulent year.

I don't feel like pop culture is going anywhere soon. It's been virtually the same since 2016 with no signs of changing. At the earliest i'd say 2024 for various reasons.
