I've been listening to plenty of 2021 songs recently and holy shit this is such an improvement over the dreaded late 10s. The best music has been since the late 00s personally. I wouldn't mind at all if music stays like this the entire decade as long as it doesn't go back to mumble rap/EDM hell again.

Very cool. The 2000s camera quality makes it feel more authentic as well. Also how on earth has avril lavigne hardly aged at all in the past 20 years lol?

Yeah I’ve felt this way too. Pop music of the late 10s didn’t really interest me but in 2021 I find a lot more popular artists and songs more interesting, thanks to Doja Cat, Lil Nas X and Dua Lipa mostly

Yeah I’ve felt this way too. Pop music of the late 10s didn’t really interest me but in 2021 I find a lot more popular artists and songs more interesting, thanks to Doja Cat, Lil Nas X and Dua Lipa mostly It feels like a high tech version of the early 00s music wise.

It's a generic 2010s pop song
Aside from it, yeah, music in 2021 is way less "insulting" than music 2016-2019
But it's also way less changeful, aside from the refreshing RnB we've been getting lately... Literally every hit song in 2021 is a throwback to the 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000s.

It fits right in with the funky retro throwback vibe of the 20s. 20s music feels like a unique combination of retro music and the 10s. Like how red and blue mix together to form purple.

Only artist I know who consistently pumped out that type of music in the 10s is bruno mars.

Sure, but the throwbacks need to go. They actually seem to be fading away this year compared to 2020. 2020 is definitely the peak of throwback music.
