While most aspects of life are nothing like the 2010s, the exception for me is music. Even the Olivia Rodrigo song "good 4 u" which people are saying is the face of early '20s music, sounds like "That's Not My Name" by the Ting Tings from 2009. That song could have come out at any time during the 2010s and it would have fit right in, despite the fact that guitar music overall fell out of favor during the 2010s.
I don't like anything that sounds like it could have come out before 2020. For me it reminds me of better times and it sends me into a mental spiral. For this reason I haven't been into pop music as much lately. Hip-hop was actually great in 2020 but now it's starting to also get stale. Every song is either a 2000s throwback or some form of melodic trap. That sound was great in 2019 but it's stale now. Hip-hop is in desperate need of a shakeup.

2020 was the best year for Hip Hop since 2004 IMO. So many classics like "Emotionally Scarred", "Rockstar", "The Bigger Picture", "For the Night", "Whoopty", "Rags 2 Riches", "Quicksand", "Lemonade" and more came out that year.
Hard to believe only three years before was 2017 lol, that year had some good rap songs but it was mostly SoundCloud and emo rap (I do vibe with some of them but still).
2021 was alright for rap music but definitely disappointing after 2020.

it’s bchris02 he’s always in an alternate universe More like John Titor is in an alternate universe where pop punk is the biggest thing. either way it's throwback music which is a 2010s thing. I can't really think of any other decade where throwback music was so successful except maybe the 80s with the 50s.
