Don't forget that abcdefu song. Is it charting? they're both forced down my throat multiple times on the radio at work so they're definitely at overplayed levels rn lol. At this point if they aren't charted high then Billboard is drunk. Edamame and You Right are other songs that you hear way more than Billboard would suggest. IMO Billboard isn't the best way to see what is popular right now.

There is a pop punk influence in those songs but it's still a rap song first and foremost. It does show that pop punk is becoming more influential. Don't forget that abcdefu song. That song isn't pop punk.

Maybe you have a point about that song then. Tbh I wouldn't be surprised if pop punk fully took over by mid 2022 at this point. It's influence is growing exponentially. A year ago from now(as in 26th Jan 2021) it was still kind of a niche underground thing.

You prob think it was underground in 2021 because you weren't paying attention, however it was underground in 2018 and 2019 as I have documented many times on this website.

As long as it's good music, it can stay forever...or at least for the decade.

I don't think the pop-punk wave will last long, maybe through mid 2024 at the latest, so pop-punk will be more of an early 2020s trend. Sometime in 2023 though mid 2024 could be the decline of pop punk. Fewer pop-punk songs will be made in the mid 2020s. Scene or goth might take over. I don't see mid 2020s culture beginning soon, despite the mid 2020s numerically beginning in May 2023. I think 2023 will still be early 2020s culturally overall, with maybe the earliest hints of mid 2020s culture. Q1 2024 might still be the early 2020s culturally. There's no way to tell. It just started though

How did pop punk blow up in 2021? 🤔 There's like literally only 2 or 3 punk songs in the charts right now.. It just started. It only started getting mainstream attention in 2021. It MAY blow up in the mid 2020s though. We'll see.

It MAY blow up in the mid 2020s though. We'll see. Olivia Rodrigo, MGK and other pop punk artists were really popular last year. I heard their music everywhere I went last year. I also heard pop punk starting to be used in commercials. So yes pop punk blew up in 2021, after being underground from late 2018 through 2020. I think pop punk will get more popular in 2022 and into some of 2023. Pop punk might start to decline at some point in 2023 through mid 2024. By late 2024, pop punk will most likely not be popular anymore.
